Hey everyone, I’m eyeing a few pairs of coveralls. I own a pair but it has a weird measurement in them, 41L I believe. I’m about 6’0, 175 pounds. What size do you guys think would be a perfect fit? I don’t want it to be too small nor too big either. Also, what’s the best look for h2? Sears or big Macs? I really want to get my h2 costume off the ground. Anyone do any weathering for a decent and reasonable price also? Dm me or comment below. Thanks guys!
the H2 Coveralls aren’t big macs, Reeds are what were used, if my memory serves me right, correct me if I’m wrong, Big Macs you can use for H1, there are also Sears and Roebucks are also good options, in spruce green
Like Ghostly said, you’re gonna want to go with Sears w&l’s if you can. Roebucks are also great, but you’ll probably have to make a few mods to get them perfect (removing the second line of stitching from the chest pocket flap, removing the stitching from the back pockets, and maybe removing the stitched-in tag that comes with some of them). As for sizing, you’re probably going to want to go up a size or 2 in either brand as they both seem to have been sized small; for instance, my chest is ~44in, but my roebucks are 48Rs, and the 46R I had before were quite snug. Given your height, you’re probably going to want to go with a size “L” or “T”, (i.e. 48T). I think this will give you a ~32-33in inseam, as opposed to the regular sizes which give you a ~30in one. I’d say the best way to be sure of what you’re getting is to take several measurements of coveralls that fit you well, and asking the seller you find to compare these measurements to their coveralls. I wish you luck in your search, as these sears/roebucks (especially the spruce ones) are pretty hard to find, especially in L/T sizes. check ebay regularly, but also etsy; some of my best finds have been through etsy.
I know everyone says the h2 coveralls are green, but i guess to me in the movie they always look greyish blue. I cant fine part in the movie where it looks even a little green.
It also depends on Exactly how screen accurate you want to be. It’s not like being in the 501st – nobody here will be policing you on your choice. Certainly, the general public won’t have a clue. If you are looking to go as accurate as possible, the experts have chimed in above. Otherwise, look for a substitute that is available in a spruce green color. Reed’s were a popular option from ebay, although the stock has been very limited recently. I have a pair of Red Kaps for mine. Sure, no breast pocket flap and some other screen inaccuracies, but they work for me. You are only limited by availability and your own opinion.
As for size, I’m 5’10" and about 170. Normally I wear a 40R but moved up to 42R for the Red Kaps. They are a bit baggy, but that’s a better look for H1 IMHO.
Tough call. With the Red Kaps, probably yes. Part of me wants to suggest a 42L since you are a little taller than I am and they tend to run tight from shoulder to crotch. The Long (or L) supposedly are a little longer in that area. I think I saw a post that Longs are for 5’11" and taller. What I can tell you is that I bought a pair of 40R years ago and they were always snug from shoulder to crotch. The newer 42R fit much better in that regard. I’ll try to attach a pic from my phone.
They may appear greyish blue, but I’m tellin’ ya the screen used pair were Vintage Spruce Green Work and Leisures. The reason they appear blue in the film is because after putting on filters, processing it, etc. greens almost photograph as blues. Another good example of this is in F13 part 5. Roy’s coveralls were Green, but appear blue throughout the whole film. I have a photo lying around somewhere showing the spruce green color. I’ll post it ASAP.
Well at that point i would just go with blue then since it appears that way in the film. And. Yeah please do dude! Iv never seen a pic of the screenused coveralls look green
Cool choice. Like I said, you’ll see variety out there. Quite a few people wear blue because H1 had such a blue wash to it and people see blue in their mind. Some shots make them look grey as well. The funny thing about spruce green is that they change color on film. My go from blue to grey to green depending on the light.
Believe it or not, they are spruce green. Like I said, they photograph in all kinds of different shades, but they are green. And yes, they are Red Kaps.
