I was just thinking about this, and it never occurred to me until now, but is it possible that he actually stole 2 masks from the store, and at the end of H4 after he was shot down the shaft, the mask he was wearing throughout H4 was damaged, and he quickly took it off, reached into his pocket, and pulled out the mask he wears in H5? My other theory is that in the story, he was still wearing the same mask as H4, but what we actually see on screen is a different mask that simply represents Michael being angry, if that makes sense. Anyone have any other theories?
that mask would not fit in his pocket… or at the very least, not be noticeable. Theres really no theories that don’t end up being silly on these kinds of things, the fact is the art and FX crew just wanted their take on the mask.
I always thought the river is what messed his mask up, washed off the sideburns, etc lol. Lets say the mask had a really cheap hair job done on it. That would explain that.

Yep, I know perfectly what he’s talking about, I touched on that saying how that doesn’t make sense, or how using any theory for something like that doesn’t make sense, because it’s not supposed to. I am “chill”, just speaking logically is all.
Thank you for your input man. I know the real reason for the mask change in real life, this thread was just for various theories of why it changed within the story. Personally I think it was a mistake making the mask look angry because Michael is supposed to be blank, and emotionless, but I digress

Yeah I know what you mean dude. I’m just not sure how any theory would make sense of that, it’s really just a plothole that doesn’t have an explanation, it’s almost like the continuity within the movies doesn’t even acknowledge that michael has a new mask. it’s just something thats there. and its changed well, as i said, new fx crew, new mask.

That is true, it’s a tough plot hole to make a theory for. As for the bandages theory, i suppose it could be possible that the bandages may have filled out the mask more, but then again maybe not.
Yeah that was what I was aiming for. All them bandages wrapped around his head like a mummy you know there bound to fill the mask more and make it a tight fit. When you see the mask in h4 doesn’t it look like a tight fit, exactly. 
So when the river part takes place, boom the bandages are getting soaked etc and fall off. I’m not gonna be a scientist here and go into all the detail about bandages getting wet, loosing shape and wobbling up etc 
But yeah the mask becomes more open.
