Does anyone have real pics or own a David Miller hockey mask?

I’m going to be controversial here and say the damaged spots are probably not blue. It looks like during filming the mask was damaged and paint was scraped off down to the (probably black) plastic. When they repainted it they partially covered these areas which give them a grayish appearance, which appears blue because of color timing.

I noticed a similar effect while trying to perfect my H1 paintwork. There are spots on the H1 mask that appear purplish because of the very reddish flesh tone of the underlying paint contrasting with the coolness of the white. Took me a while to figure that one out. Colors can play tricks on you, and to me it makes no sense at all that they randomly threw some blue paint across the Roy mask, or basecoated it blue.

Maybe they added the spots for weathering as the filming progressed. Like the ripping of the chevron on the right side.

It would be quite a stretch to get me to believe that. It looks blue in every single scene you can see the spots in regardless of how the scene was lit.

I mean I own two Miller masks and I also have pictures of many of them as well. I think you would have better luck asking for a custom one meaning that they will make it look like a specific scene. You’d have to pay a bit more but I’d say it’s worth it… and you have to be super specific with them. The first one is owned by a friend. I love the shape of the mask, and the fact they are willing to get you what you want… is pretty good. My complaints are, they take for ever to reply… and that well that stupid bottom hole but that can honestly be fixed if you strip the blank and just use some clay that becomes plastic and bonds.

I will post mine shortly.

“Let’s say that for a fact that he DID get the hero Part 4 to mold for part 5. He said that he took a mold of the mask with the split filled in, as well as with it not. WHAT IF the mystery mask is a pull made from that split mold?”

The mask from the opening of the movie is what he made with the ax cut by whatever process from the Final Chapter mask, which is why it looks so much like the Roy mask.

Auz has put a tremendous amount of time, effort, and undoubtedly a tremendous amount of patience, into things relating to the study and accumulation (and application) of knowledge concerning the Friday The 13th franchise props, makeup, etc., not to mention surely experiencing a great deal of frustration, disappointment and outright rage along the way, and clearly that, probably combined with a lot of innate ability, has paid off in his work.
Bearing that in mind may make his responses more understandable to those who have trouble with them.
Of course, I don’t really know who here has or hasn’t demonstrated a like degree of dedication, other than those who have said so, assuming their word can be trusted, and so I am not presuming anything either.

If you have any kind of string, shoe lace, or other such object that conforms to the shape of things you can mark the length of something on that and then measure it with the tape measure.

When Fiberglass Masks says the part 3 is made by the same method as the original, are you referring to using a Jacques Plante mask as a base?

Would be great to know the truth of part 5… issue is there is no way to contact these people… and whatever way there is… people don’t want to give you because of some “we don’t want you to bother these people.” bs

Total red-flag for me… the issue also is that if you contact these people asking for information or verifiable information about the mask… they will take it as you trying to look for information or asking because you are trying to steal something from them… the mask community is very stingy and will try to destroy your reputation for any small reason… as long as they think you did something… that they magically named themselves the police of the community over or for.

There is also no way to track the mask… except making asking paramount if they still have the mask and they can show us pictures and such…

The issue is that people with the connections to do so… don’t want to do it…

I’ve already had issues with millers assistant for simply just wanting to ask for colors and asking a lot about the mask… because they think you are trying to steal their lively hood or some horseshit… rather than just being a fan and just wanting to know because there is nothing out there… if you look at the mask history part 5 basically doesn’t have much.

Another issue is that a lot of people don’t know how to have a decent discussion or debate about the mask without acting like a bunch of assholes… or try to claim to be pros- but can’t put a chevron on a mask correctly.

I have one of the actors as a friend, but sadly they don’t really reply, and gotta respect that… but it’s another issue without trying to find out the truth of the masks. I would say the best thing to do… is create a live pod-cast or stream and have an interview with the man himself and whoever else can be found… to talk about the film and the mask.

but people don’t want to do that either…

according to millers assistant, they did somethings to the mask on purpose because of “recasters” not sure how true that is… but with the way they act to questions, it could be the case.

There are tons of similarities to the original mask… but we can’t verify how true it is that their current mask comes from the original mold… I know a long time ago i stepped over some old newspapers saying they were selling mask for like 50 in the 80’s… but idk if anyone bought any or who still has a movie mold mask… in their collections… people are coming out with their collections finally but for some reason… even though 5 stuff are coming out… its never a mask… its always some “kill props” and pictures of the death scene…

So the most we can do is come up with theories… and the such… everyone’s got their own perspective with the mask… so answers are different depending on who you ask.

When I make the part 5 masks, I usually just go for the DMC colors and try different methods to get them to look similar to the movie screenshots depending on the scene… I’ve had DMC masks myself… and I’ve sorta just retooled them and trimmed some areas and fix the eyes and such… but I doubt we will ever get to see a screen used mask… ever.

But if you ever just want to have fun and discuss things about the part 5 mask don’t be afraid to dm me, I don’t do it much anymore, but sometimes I take time to go into many hd screenshots and try to learn something new… the discussions when it comes to this mask are mostly just dead and people don’t care to revisit them lol

Well, thank you very much! As for the sorts of cattiness you mentioned, I don’t have any patience for those who turn everything into a gossipy schoolgirl clique-y sort of thing, and especially those who disrespect and unjustifiably attack, ignore, or condescend to people as if they’re above them over matters concerning things like movie props in which there is no moral aspect of any of it at all, but some thing which someone thinks he or she is justified in making a sort of replacement “standard” by which to judge people.

I don’t either I do love sharing theories and such about the mask though that’s always fun.
So hit me up any time

Thanks again!

Just picked up a DMC I’m not a expert on these hocks but I think it looks good !! I do have a Crash version and that definitely looks better

Yeah their (David Millers) paint jobs are getting pretty bad… the only thing I can say is the colors are correct when they do them but their paint jobs are shit.

I don’t think the mystery mask was made during part 5. The eyes on the Roy mask have rounded edges that show signs of recasting. The nose is also a little bigger and more rounded than the part 3/4 mask. These are both signs of a mask that was formed using a buck made using another vacuum formed mask.

The eyes on the mystery mask have very sharp edges just like the 3/4 mask. If the mystery mask was pulled from the same buck that the Roy mask was pulled from then both masks would have the same features but they don’t.

Does anybody know anything about the origin of this mask? I bought it around 2001/2002 off Ebay as a part 3, but it was really badly painted, so I had it re-done as a part 5.

Well it is definitely DMC related. Same bloated features, vent hole misplacement, etc.

Thanks, I imagine it was a recast of something… because it only cost me about £30.

It may be! Hard to tell without the original listing but I’d definitely say it’s related somehow
