Does anyone have real pics or own a David Miller hockey mask?

thanks! that’s good to know! At least it’s now painted in the right colours!

This is one I bought from Frightstuff. It was supposedly one of the h7 blanks. It was in black plastic originally.

This was probably a “Horror Concepts” blank, which was a DMC recast. There were a few people painting these up, ‘Wheelspin’ from the UK comes to mind.

yes, thinking about it, this did come from the UK!

Colin Mayne, 2005.

Colin Mayne yes! it’s awesome! All my Jason masks were painted by Colin. How did you know?

Colin was one of the first to offer paint on those '88 blanks, before FrightStuff offered new ones. Ken even incorporated one of Colin’s masks in the logo:

Right. That’s what I meant. The Roy mask and the opening dream sequence mask, which are basically the same aside from the axe cut as far as the blank is concerned, were probably made by recasting either the Final Chapter mask or the mask probably made during production of Part 3 that is in the Hollywood Museum which was used in the one hallucination scene in which Tommy looks down out of the window.

I’m still not sold on the idea that the mystery mask is the hallucination scene mask. The colors of the 2 masks are completely different. Also, the mystery mask had cheek snaps at one point just like the part 3 and 4 masks. They were removed and then replaced with rivets like the part 6 mask. If the mystery mask was the hallucination scene mask you would see where the snaps used to be but there’s nothing there.

Auz my question is was the part 5 opening grave scene mask and the Roy mask from the same outside from the axe cut. Meaning they were from the same buck

Honestly, I’m not sure. I want to say they’re from the same buck but the 2 masks are slightly different.

One very interesting thing about the opening scene mask is that it has a blue spot on the top of the mask in the same spot that the Roy mask has a blue spot. For a hot second I thought maybe they stripped the paint off the Roy mask to make the opening scene mask but I don’t think that’s the case. On the Roy mask where the axe cut should be there’s an indention on the edge of the mask where they filled it. However, on the opening scene mask there doesn’t seem to be the same indention. If you follow the top edge of the mask it continue perfectly.

Here’s a couple of pictures to show what I mean.

Thought maybe it was a trim difference at first but the promo hock has no axe cut as well and has the dip. Pushes me more toward the 2 different molds theory personally.

Auz I see what you mean. But damn that blue spot on the top of each mask is remarkably the same shape.

And if I’m correct I saw an old youtube video that the owner of a DMC part 5 shows the indentation where he states that is where the axe cut was filled

Auz did you ever attempt to recreate the part 5 grave scene mask? Any insights on how the effect was done? I read it was done with latex put on the base to give the “splotchy” areas then top coated with the grey and the the latex removed to give the light under coat to show in areas

I Have a David Miller part 5 with certificate and all, if you need any pics let me know.

Show usss

I own a David miller with Cert

Can someone please post a link to the correct fibrosport hockey mask from Bob at Fiberglass that was used to create the Jason mask? There are several on there that at medium and I want to get the CORRECT model. Is it JP102 or the JPM?

The original mask used to create the Jason hockey mask was the JP (Jacques Plante) fibrosport 102 Elite model.

If you are buying one of Bob’s replicas you’ll want the JP-102. That model has snap rivets that connect the straps, as opposed to the JPM which has leather connecting straps that feed through a wider hole in the mask.
