Was the can a pull-tab or did they do away with those already in California in 1978?
Just want to know which kind to get eventually.

eBay would be your best option. A lot of people collect vintage soda and beer cans, so you can find them pretty often for under $10.

EBay is definitely the place to look. Just search frequently for newly listed ‘Buy It Now’ items. One time I got three cans for around $4 that way.

There are actually a couple on eBay as we speak. That’s what made me curious. I’ve seen pull-tab, push-button, and sta-tab versions.
I guess I assumed they would’ve had the pull-tabs still in '78.
I am looking at one on there right now, the only one I can find so far.

I just bought the can on the right on Ebay. I hope I got the right can lol.
If it’s got the little hand on the side(recycle) then it’s the one, even if it doesn’t, you’ve got a great can, cause all the writing is correct, which is something to watch for. Cause a lot of those cans looked very close, but the writing was off, but yours looks good. The impossible one to find accurately is Warlocks coke can. Can find them Sometimes with correct label, but the top is ALWAYS incorrect. His was a stay tab, like 80/81, but had label from 78/79, sometimes 80, but instead of a flat top his had like a 3 rib indented can top… Impossible to find, have not even found one remotely close in a coca cola can chart. Therefore I don’t have a coke can yet, but I’m a looking. Great find!!

Yeah, that’s a nice one, better and more accurate than mine. The ones I bought were never used to hold soda and have no opening in the top. They’re also missing a line of text at the bottom. I’d never seen any like that before so I just had to get them, even though they were a little off:
