So, I was wondering if anyone knew if there has been any official behind the scene pics of the flashback, when it came out there were a few, but some of them disappeared from the internet for some odd reason. I got some pictures, but there were a few showing the colors of the mask, with some yellowing on it… really wanted to see if I could find any of those pictures in case anyone has them.
Do you know why you don’t have a licensed Halloween Kills 1978 Flashback mask? Malek Akkad. He nixed it. He is solely responsible for this specific mask not being made available.
I found out this information within the last month. I’m not naming anyone’s name but he told me the entire story and he’s baffled by it as well. They also told me about the homage to Halloween II in the title credits to Halloween Ends but that they couldn’t figure out how the original pumpkin was done…until I showed the actual Halloween II prop and they were flabbergasted about how it actually was done. Never, ever did they think the actual prop was so big, so tall and thin. He said whoever thought this up, was a genius and knew exactly what they were doing because they were going about it completely wrong for Halloween Ends.
Yeah, I heard they didn’t want to tell anyone the real reason for the mask not being allowed to be a thing or even have pictures of it or anything. I contacted the original artist he has no pictures, told me chris might have some… I contacted armstrong but no replies.
Wasn’t Malek responsible for the indie mask sale prohibition years ago, too? Or was that purely Trancas?
I thought Ryan Turek was some kind of super fan. You’d think he would have known he could read about the pumpkin thing here.
Anyway, Halloween Kills was the best Halloween entry in my lifetime. I hope Ends succeeds at whatever it’s trying to do. I’m okay with homages; I’m okay with things changing, too.
Hehehe. I’ve thought the same thing. I chalk it up to them having an appreciation for the film-making elements of the sequels and not necessarily the story lines and direction the franchise took.
Some of my favorite scenes come from H2… and I’m a self-admitted H1 purist. It’s hard to deny some of the elements from those sequels were executed really well.
There has NEVER been an opening that has topped H4’s, and none of them even have come close to the Halloween theme with all the decor and bright colours of autumn quite like H6, Resurrection still has the 3rd best Myers look to me after H2, Brad had some great movements, even though with his Myers you can see his eyes, I do still love the mask cause of it’s gothic look, especially when the hair is this short
It has been YEARS (like nearly 3 decades) since I’ve seen H6. I should do a marathon sometime.
I will say, though, that I appreciate any attempt by the filmmakers to capture an authentic look and feel of autumn and that brisk, chilly, Halloween vibe. It’s difficult to put into words, but I think we all know what that feels like. A big gripe of mine with the DGG trilogy is that he COMPLETELY misses the mark regarding atmosphere for me. I’ve written about it before, so I won’t bore you further, but the atmosphere he creates is a complete whiff for me. So disappointing.
NOW…
As for the seriously kickass shit from H2:
Sandman… I mean, c’mon. Need I list more? What a BOLD fucking choice. I love the song choice beyond anything I can properly articulate here. That song makes the fucking movie for me. I see this construct copied all the time in haunts. At some point there’s ALWAYS a room with a “creepy old” song being played through what sounds like a tin can… usually Hank Sr. EVERY TIME I hear something like this I think of H2 and Sandman, lol. I love it.
I can go on… but the list is LONG. H2 does some REALLY REALLY cool shit that has been copied OVER AND OVER again.
