Guess who got H2 on DVD?

well Matt you’ve done your part. you bought a ticket for RZ H2 at the theatre and bought the dvd. you did all you can do to stop this atrocity :stuck_out_tongue: :drinkers:

I think the film did an excellent job of portraying real survivors of tragedy.

Laurie had tons of dimensional context about her, as much as a mentally and emotionally unstable stilted victim could convey.

Druggie and Drunk?!?!?! Wait, no one here knows someone like this in real life. Give me a break!

Annie became the Recluse/Shut in- Her sense of self worth, beauty, and pride completely robbed from her. She didn’t feel safe outside of her house. Her father was trying to keep the illusion of sanity and well being alive for both her and Laurie. He sheltered them and it seemed to me like they were the only people who really mattered to him- not just Annie. Laurie as well. Which was very evident when he read Loomis’s book and lost it. Brackett was trying to hold on, the whole way through and in the end the last thing that really mattered was taken from him outright.

Loomis was chasing fame and wealth- I know harcore fans hate that a lot. Mainly because it’s nothing at all like Donalds Loomis. So what. Those people are real too.

The fouled mouth shock talk was kept toned down in contrast to the original film. It actually felt like real conversational dialog this time out.

All of the characters were well played and believable- Even Richard’s “F” bomb fit.

You get in a car accident and suffer a nice sternum crack against a dash board that tears muscles and ligament’s, breaks a few ribs, your collar bone, your rotator cuff, ruptures a few discs in your spine and neck and blows your frigging spleen wide open, and causes some internal bleeding- You survive that while having a odd out of context #$%^ed up wrong song of the moment playing on the radio, and you tell me you wont be wincing in pain and cursing your ass off- even more so if the vehicle moves about and causes stresses to those injuries.

At no time did the film feel like a chase for another dollar from the fans. It did everything it could to be different. That’s where I think it failed for some of the hardcore fans. It was it’s own take on the source. Everything was altered to be something fresh and original. It wasn’t a replica of the original films. It was new and different. I wasn’t waiting with baited breath for a scene or a familiar note replay or homage- In fact that’s what I hate about remakes- more than anything in the world.

I so hope the Nightmare remake turns out to be the wake up call everyone fails to believe when it comes to the lazy and ineffectual use of scene and characters replays and homages.

I was entertained enough with the action on screen to enjoy it. With the mystery of the directions it was taking. Some of you fans sought out everything about the film before you could even witness it. Ruining all of those first time seeing it experience’s. How can you even begin to enjoy a first viewing of something like that when you know what happens the whole way through.

The directors cut changed up a few things and threw out a pretty good curve ball ending, and yeah I liked it. I will still be pretty bummed out about Rob not returning for a third film, and any sequel direction that tries to ignore what he set up in part two.

It’s Alive - We don’t see eye to eye on this film and that’s fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

However I want to give you credit where it is due. You gave some excellent reasons why you liked the film and defended those reasons quite admirably. I (this scares me a bit!) could even empathize with some of your arguments.

I still find the “visions” (I could buy into Laurie having the visions but Michael sharing these visions made the concept silly and ineffective in my opinion), difference in Loomis’ character (because it was too extreme chiefly) and overuse of the languange from several characters outside of Laurie to be overdone. I liked Tyler’s portrayal of Myers for the most part and thought Brackett and Danielle were easily the strongest characters and performances.

I couldn’t honestly give this movie more than 4 out of 10 stars for my taste but it was refreshing to hear someone argue their opinion with class and intellect.

Well done.

Haha really? Once i get the time I’m gunna watch it with the commentary.

I agree with everything you say, I also dont get why people are so upset when people curse…people curse, people curse alot, especially someone who is trying to recover from an unimaginable tragedy and torturous experience, in the DC even Annie addresses Lauries new “behavior” and everything that isnt fleshed out in the theatrical finally makes sense in this new version. Cant convert the people who dislike it, but i will never understand the hate coming from people who buy masks for part 5 and 8…especially with the low points of the series those films represent…

I’d still watch any of the previous films over the remake or h2…

enjoy Busta Rhymes beating up Michael with Kung Fu then.

oh I will. have fun watching an overgrown hobo dream about ghosts and ponies while simultaneously rocking a zakk wylde beard

lol, cheers bud

Actually, I did not buy the ticket, my mom did.

There’s a difference between effective usage of vulgarity and just using it because you can’t write. Hearing it 5-10 time per line is just downright annoying. Hell, I could write a script that consists of 80-90% profanity! Like I said, I cuss worse than a sailor and even for me the vulgarity in Halloween and Halloween II was just ridiculous and annoying. If I want to hear that much language I’ll just start using it.

Now I’ve seen it said that the beginning, in the hospital, was tha best part of the movie and I have to agree. That and the scene where Brackett finds Annie in his house, dead, was actually very moving. That’s great acting on Dourif’s part.

As will I.

He implied the theatrical cut would have been better with the excised material (he’s right). However, in the end, he sounded quite pleased with the way the director’s cut turned out (His comment, “This was OUR version of the movie” for example).

On the bright side though…at least Michael Jackson’s THIS IS IT comes out on DVD in two weeks!!! :drinkers:

Well, the good folks over at TWC/Dimension sent my copy to me on Monday. I gave it another go 'round. Still hated it. With a passion. Rob has proven time and time again, that he is NOT a writer. Is he creative? Sure, he’s creative. But he’s not good at transfering that creative side to dialogue, infact, he’s God awful at it. Script writing is not his forte. Never will be. Thus, I can’t necessarily blame Scout and Co. for their horrid acting, because quite simply when Rob said “…cut!” He was happy with what he heard.

I won’t go into the reasons (1,356 of them roughly) as I’ve done that already before on this topic, but I will point out what was good about it.

The scenics/lighting/overhead panning shots. They were awesome and beautifully executed.

The grainy film quality. Very well utilized and kept the film very “retro” in most aspects.

Brad’s acting was superb. I felt wholeheartedly bad for the guy when he found Danielle in the bathroom, was an incredibly emotional scene and beautifully played out. Mind you, it was all Brad, and NOT Rob’s atrocious writing that made it stand out.

Tyler is the best Myers since Castle, and he even has the Castle walk down to a natural science. Rewatch the scene where he see’s Sheri and the white horse post coronor van crash, the camera is placed behind him at a low angle as he walks towards them. 110% Castle. Not sure if he tried to make that happen, or if it’s all natural, but he’s got the Castle walk nailed. He’s now, officially, my favorite Myers since Castle and tied with Dick for number 2 of all time. Nobody will ever beat Nick, ever. He’s the example, the rest are just trying to keep up. Tyler has done that, for certain.

His “grunting” doesn’t bother me at all, Castle did that in Halloween 1978, so to do it again here isn’t an issue.

As for the rest of the film. Well, we’ll just leave it at that.

i like the directors cut alittle better than the theatrical version. the only part i liked less was how they ended it with a rendition of love hurts, i wouldve preferred them keeping lauries theme. everything i disliked in theatre, i still dislike but all in all it is my 4th favorite in the series.
RZ h1 and H2 absolutely smoke H4- H8.

really ive been lookin for it

I have only seen the theatrical version.I liked it ok.My wife hated it.I do think it shows how someone might deal with a traumatic event in real life.Like laurie drinking and popping pills.I liked Robs first Halloween better though. If the white horse would have been left out and just had him seeing his mom it would have been better.

Thank-you and yes they do.

Come on Dren Just admit you love the movies H9 and H10, and you sleep with you plush Mikey doll every night…

I refused to see H2 in the theater after I was highly let down by RZ’s first movie (although I love the mask). I just couldn’t justify paying $10+ to see it… Well now it’s in my Netflix queue so I’m going to give it a shot only b/c I’m desperate to see a new horror flick. Leaving my expectations at about a 1/10 after reading reviews so hopefully I can just enjoy it for seeing the kills.

thats a very fair review from someone who loathed it. At least you gave credit where its due.

on another note, for all the people who said they wouldnt pay to see H2 out of principle, Im a bit surprised by this.
Did you boycott JEEPERS CREEPERS because the director is an accused and admitted pedophile rapist?
Did you fork over $10 for the F13 remake after being bamboozled by the series over the last 3 or so films?
The same goes for NMOES when it hits in a few months.
SCREAM anyone?
So why Halloween? especially when so many collect and love the RZ mask?

I dont know, maybe its just me but some of the negativity against RZ’s films seem over the top and dramatic.
