H1 myers mask...not replicated yet!

I posted this somewhere else…but i wanted to here everyone’s thoughts
I feel as though there hasn’t been an H1 close enough yet :frowning:

For me, there hasn’t been a good enough H1 mask…worn or unworn.
I think the KH is the best H2 mask, but there hasn’t been a Top H1 yet.
I will wait for the perfect one, may take another 10 years before someone nails it or a Kirk mold is found

These pics are the closest to H1 that I have ever captured…

I really had to stuff this mask to get the full effect i was looking for…not YET have a found something even close to H1 :frowning:
I really hope it will happen some day

AGREED

There are a few masks out there that pull off the H1 look nicely, but only a few. JMO

Agreed, but those pictures above look GREAT Jon!

If your looking for something that looks closer than this picture, I don’t think you’re ever going to find it. Maybe you’ve been collecting for so long and have had so many nice looking masks that nothing seems good enough for you anymore. This sort of thing happens to people. Not just mask collecting either.

i feel yuh on that!!
its never enough…i have an H8 that is said to be screenused…has the marks and stuff.might be a recast IDK…but the point is it just doesnt look accurate…but then again its as accurate as it can get. i guess the problem is that we dont want any other mask… we want ‘‘the mask’’ the one form the movie. the look. but we cant have it
marcus

I agree completely. This is just my newest of many, many collection-based hobbies and what I’ve learned is that collecting is a form of obsession-compulsion and you’ll never attain your “holy grail”, because there’s always something else out there to get. The fact is, It’s not the actual object we’re after, but the hunt, the thrill of the pursuit and the fund of learning and being fascinated. If you’re lucky, eventually, the fire goes cold and you move on to something else to “hunt”

Like I said, this is the closest I have ever had, these pics…It took me hours to stuff it just right to get that look. But it still is way off in many ways…
It’s a close road here with them, but nothing yet…hopefully Justin’s new myers or Bryan’s new myers is close…
But unless we can a laser scan of a kirk (the right copy) then I think we are going to have a very long road :frowning:

It is the hunt that is fun…I got my perfect H2 and thought i was done with myers…well i went to the next thing, H3 masks. Now I need my next hunt haha.
But there still isn’t a good H1 mask :axe:

Wow that is a sick ass shot Jon…Very nice man…I wish I owned that bad boy…Did you ever sell that one bro…If not could we see more :prayer:

that thing is serious, so legit

Great pics Jon! Love the stuffing job!

There are some great replicas out there though man… This pic was posted by another member a while back. It took people a while to figure out that this wasn’t the Hero, rather an H78 converted by AHG…

And a few other personal favorite comparison shots…

Although the Hero hasn’t been “perfectly” replicated, and may never be replicated to perfection, some masks have come pretty damn close on a couple occasions. To say it hasn’t even come close to being replicated is a little silly… There have been numerous times when all of us have been awe at an H1 replica. Jason’s H78 comes to mind right away here…

hey man, that is a killer mask. deffinitely one of the best out there. if you dont mind me asking is it a converted 99 shatner?
it looks amazing. later man

I think Jon’s mask is a converted Mint.

Great post Jon and I feel you brother!

The KH solved my perfect H2 problem immediately but finding my perfect H1 took MANY tries. I can’t say mine is 100% but I’m very satisfied with the DB2 Colin and James converted. It is really close for my tastes:

The only mask I have seen that really hit the hero look on ALL levels however was Sheriff Brackett’s (MM.Net member) 75 Kirk he converted at one time. It was actually only HALF converted but man it NAILED the look. HAD to be from the same mold as the hero.

It will be interesting to see what Bry and Justin come up with. I’ve often felt that had the Psycho had more accurate eye cuts we would have pay dirt. A couple of the real early NM78s were close as well.

“…hasn’t come close” is more than a little far fetched. Several masks have come only a biscuit away from being damn near perfect. Several Mint’s (Yours and mine included) the DB in the comparison pic in this very thread, J’s H78, JC’s most recent conversions are particularly amazing in my eyes and of course AHG has it down to a science as well.

No offense, but to say “…hasn’t come close” seems incredibly insulting to not only the convert artists, but to the sculptors here as well.

Now, I’m not, I repeat, N O T going to turn this into any form of “bash thread” so don’t even go there after you read my next statement, but to say the KH is the “…perfect H2” is almost as ridiculous as stating there haven’t been any “…close” H1’s.

I’m all for loving what you perceive to be great, and accurate etc. But if you want to seriously break it down to math/measurements and such, the KH’s dimensions are not accurate to the Kirk in H2. It’s not me bashing anything, it’s simply calling it like it is. Put 2 pics side by side, one screen and the other KH, and see for yourself. I know that YOU love it, and that YOU think it’s great, and that’s awesome and I’m legit happy for you, you found YOUR end all be all H2.

However, that doesn’t change the numbers/dimensions/measurements etc. They aren’t accurate. The size, and overall shell of the mask is great, but the features are simply NOT accurate to H2, worn or unworn. Is it good? Absolutely. Is it “dimensionally perfect”? Not even close. Nose is off, lips are way off, the brows are off and the eye’s are incorrectly shaped. I’m not bashing it, I’m simply pointing out it’s clear and present flaws in comparison to the screenused H2 mask.

In closing, I think we have very accurate Kirk mask replicas. We can’t really call them H1 replicas, as that mask was lightning in a bottle to begin with. Too much goes into the perfect replica anyway i.e head shape, hair on your own head, jawline etc. All factors in what change the overall look of any mask. But, the Kirk itself, we definitely have near perfect replicas. Bry, and of course Nik’s new one is the champ at this moment. Who knows what’s next in line, but I’m sure they’ll be interesting and could challenge for the throne.

I agree, I’m totally happy with my H1’s. Plus we just had a 4 pg thread with AMAZING H1 replicas. And as far as H2 goes, I have seen a few awesome KH’s but imho I’ll take the Warlock anyday

For some reason the pic of Myers looks very familiar to me…Ive seen that image before, but not on the poster.

I think are some good points on this subject, I can see where Jon is coming from. Many masks are great but leave you empty after a short period. Constantly searching for that one H1 that can give you the whole shebang for more than a month or so…I know I go through them. I have had several masks that have captured a great H1 look. I think Im going to have to convert one myself just to do it in my vision. Even If I feel like the Hero. I bet I will still be there, I watched the Myers Industry for ten years, sitting in a room, staring at a wall, not seeing the wall, looking past the wall - looking at this night, inhumanly patient, waiting for some secret, silent alarm to trigger the scene off.

Ha ha… Awesome  I’ve seen that mask pic in the poster before as well…Very nice copy to say the least
Later!
Jay
