HALLOWEEN 2 (1981) question

Now why did Michael go over to Ellens house and kill her in the begining of the movie , what connection did they have?

Taken from John Carpenter: Prince of Darkness by Gilles Boulenger. A MUST read for any Carpenter fan.

Zero connection. That was part of the Carpenter re-shoots after he took over from Rick Rosenthal. Carpenter wanted an opening scare, Elrods. A connecting shot, the walk over and another scare, Ellens death. Carpenter tried to make Halloween II shorter and and scarier than the original Rosenthal cut of nearly 1 hour 45 minutes.

and also well this is a totally diff. question, but why and how did michael get a diff. mask???

Same mask as used in the original Halloween. Dick has a wider head than Nick. Exactly the same mask.

you sure… i mean they look different …or maybe cause it looks a lil. more weathered i guess…hmmm

This has been debated and talked about to death in other threads. It’s the exact same mask.

If anyone can post a link to show this gentleman, please do so!

alrite man i believe you! lol…im just saying man to me it looks different…

Kris…Just borrowing this really quick!

See the little part in the hair (right in front) Same mask …Wider head which makes the eyes appear smaller & look different

well yea your right guys…i always said to my self, that it was a different mask…but it looks the same… thats a great comparison pic by the way

You know, I’ve always wondered why Michael killed the girl in the beginning as well. I mean she wasn’t doing anything to set him that made him have to kill her. I guess I just figured that it was one of those things that gets put into a horror movie, someone dying for no reason at all. Basically they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Wasnt she the Sherriffs daughter?

Annie was his daughter. She was killed off in the first one. She made a brief cameo in the second one being pulled out of the house on a gurney.

:axe:

Lets just thank God Dick did not have a Stewie head, the mask would have been up for serious debate then

Dick did a great job, but I have often wondered why they didn’t get someone with a similar head size and shape as Castles head. Maybe if they had done that the mask would have looked more like the H1 Hero. Don’t get me wrong Dick Warlock was Phenomenal as Myers, just sayin.

Maybe particularly he had stuntman skills in his resume and still had a creepy walk? maybe

The death of the girl at the beginning was just included to increase the body count. If you remove that death from the movie it makes no difference to the rest of the plot of the film.

As for the Halloween II mask being the same as the original Halloween mask, I’m sure it has been debated to death. Dick Warlock claims it is the exact same mask but I’m sure after 25 years his memory may be a little hazy. At the time, I’m sure it was a very minor detail in the process of making this film that he never imagined people would ask him about many years later.

A major film like Halloween II would not have been made using just one mask. Yes they may have used one of the reportedly three masks from Halloween but no responsible Hollywood costumer would arrive with only one mask to use for an entire 28 day shoot. If the one mask gets stolen, lost or damaged you would have to halt the entire production for the day which would cost many thousands of dollars.

I’m sure they had one mask for F/X shots of the blood coming out the eyes, one for stunts, one for walking around, one they set on fire in a close-up etc.

When I was little, I just assumed Michael killed the girl because 1.) He was pissed, and 2.) She was the good looking teenage type, and maybe he was worried she’d call the cops after hearing Mrs. Elrod scream. I dunno why he’d bother after leaving the Elrods alone, perhaps he felt a kindred spirit with Harold and wanted to see the man receive his nice sandwich.
