It’s been confirmed that a new Halloween film has been locked down and will be a production between Blumhouse, Miramax, and Trancas International Films, with Blumhouse’s Jason Blum and Trancas’ Malek Akkad acting as producers. However, that’s not the only huge news as creator John Carpenter will be acting as executive producer!
The goal is to have the film out at Halloween 2017.
Akkad, who has been a producer on the franchise since Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, explains, “Trancas International is thrilled to be teaming up with Miramax on ‘Halloween,’ one of the most enduring horror franchises in film. We are also very excited to be working with Jason Blum and the whole team at Blumhouse. Together, along with the return of legendary filmmaker John Carpenter, we are eager to make a film that will be a milestone in the franchise’s legacy and that will excite the fans, young and old.”
This is the best news for the franchise making a comeback, but I’ll be holding back my excitement. We’ve heard promising news about a new movie a few times before and they have never happened. I just hope this project happens.
This is amazing news! I guess I’m not surprised at everyone’s pessimism considering the news we typically get and the lack of returns on them, but I believe we can rest assured with this one. John has confirmed it himself on multiple social media platforms. Get excited, get pumped, this is happening!
we need to make a statement that halloween movies ant take this long any more. when this movie does come out we should all cosplay when we go see it. plus it will e really fun
It’s the one thing I was disappointed with in H20. If they were bringing Jamie Lee back, they should have also brought back the Kirk mask. Although it burned up in part 2, they very easily could have filmed a scene of him swiping another one. I can remember there being so much excitement for that film, but it would have been tenfold had we seen the Kirk mask in the trailer.
