Now, the thing I disliked most about H20 was that it took Michael out of Illinois. I know the California town of H20 has a sort of South Pasadena feeling, but the archetecture of Hillcrest Academy is too Spanish-influence for my taste. I’m more interested in seeing the Old-timey square type feeling like what we got in H1, H2 and H4.
The alley behind the Elrod house, for example is an ideal example of an Illinois, South Side of Chicago type of setting:
Real small town Illinois alleyway:
The spooky pictures of rolling farmland, and of old storefront shops along a main street reminds me of my own south suburb of Chicago town in October…
Halloween 4:
Real October Illinois farm:

I really gotta say, I really hope Carpenter will keep an eye on things, because he was really able to bring a great feeling of Illinois from South Pasadena, and that’s a feeling that H20 and Resurrection really lost for me.
Yeah, but it made sense that Laurie was trying to get as far away from Michael as possible, even though she believed him to be dead. Could have been worse - she could have moved to Europe, since odds are Mike doesn’t know how to fly a plane.
Totally hope they use a kirk based mask, that would really help tie this one to the original 2 and also make it all the more special/differentiate it from just any old regular sequel.
We have Carpenter back, that alone makes this one special, hopefully the stars align and they understand how important that mask is.
Hopefully old Shatner plays cool and let’s them use it.
Hmm yeah seems like we all want the original mask back…sort of like a revival…I still find it hard to believe though. And with JC as the producer, it’s going to rock regardless.
I’m also wondering what the mask with will look like. I’m looking forward to something Kirk-like, but also menacing. No more rotted masks, or crap that resembles a cheap knockoff. I want to see a return to the classic looking white mask, but with a more sadistic twist. Like a Maniac, or Evilution. Maybe even something like the NightOwl Thrasher.
Speaking of the remakes, I want Michael to return to being a shadow, more subtle and haunting. No more big behemoths like Tyler Mane, though Mane did make an awesome performance. Still, I want to see more of Michael lurking in the shadows, standing there eerily like some ghost. A pale, emotionless shape. And another thing to do with it is not go over the top of with blood. In the original, you get so paranoid and freaked out, you forget there’s hardly any blood at all! I want that feeling of feeling enthralled from fear again!
And finally, I am looking for something more classic '70s in the weaponware. No more modern Forschners (which is what’s been used since Halloween Resurrection), or anything like that sword of a bowie knife used in Rob Zombie’s “Halloween 2”. I want to see a big classic, old fashioned forged Chef knife, like this one:
As far as the mask goes, I would prefer they pick an entirely new Halloween mask from a store and paint it white and weather it up. It would be nice to have change. The H1 is already perfect.
Dont ya just hate when you get awesome news like this but then they say you have to wait a year and a half!!! Just like video games lol I’m with you Davy, I like all your points and wants. No humongous ogre dude, just your normal every day guy that could be just about anyone. Keep him in the shadows to build suspense, and I use the word suspense strongly. That’s how it should be. A nice big classic knife! YES!! And beautiful atmospheres and another classic score. And don’t cast big names. Make it believable with some new folks, up and comers so to speak. Jay muzz would be a great Myers!! This is truly amazing news, I cannot wait to hear the eerie music that is Halloween!! HELL YES!!!
I’m pretty pumped for this since Blumhouse doesn’t really fuck around and they bought the rights. This thing is getting made i’m 100% sure of it. Having Carpenter on board is the cherry on top. And apparently the director of Hush and Oculus is in talks to direct (and Adam Wingard of You’re Next and The Guest has been hinting at something too)
Haven’t seen Oculus but enjoyed Hush…huge Halloween influence there…I hope it gets made but still can’t be sure, especially after what happened with “returns”…
