The whole film takes place in 2018, confirmed. No additional scenes in '78.
I swear they said reshooting the ending and Castle said mask looked just the same, maybe just him standing up or something.
Danny McBride said the film takes place as if the original film ended in a slightly different way. Many took that as him changing the ending of the 1978 film, but can confirm from people at the screening the ending of the original film was not changed at all. I think he was referring to the sense of where he is after those last couple of minutes in 1978 rather than them shooting a whole new ending.
Nick Castle said the mask looks very similar to the 1978 film, but 40 years later - so he’s definitely referring to the new mask.

Well, I have been dying to see footage from the film for the longest - but I’d bet that they’d have some cues from the soundtrack in the trailer, seeing as some of it is already finished.

Haha, the more blurry the more i like it. Dont forget that real poster is a hd closeup, never gonna see it so closely in the movie probably. Im sure most of us will love it in the movie. SHIT CANT WAIT

The poster is perfection. The mask emotes a melancholy tiredness which is exactly what they want you to think. But any of the photoshopped images reveal that he’s actually staring you the F down, like you better run MFer. Love it. My desk at work started to lift up as soon as I saw it. Can’t wait for this movie.

You’re not the only one! I constantly check the IMDB and official page now to see if there’s any cast updates, or if they accidentally upload the trailer somewhere. Definitely should be out next week though.
If you compare to other blumhouse movies, trailers are released 6months before a movie so we still have at least 2-3 weeks to go
