Halloween 35th Anniversary Blu Ray Specs!

Yeah, I don’t want to hear about how Trancas is “all about the money” when you make a statement like that. You found some deleted footage, not the Holy Grail.

I have a question for you - how would that work? Unless it was released, say, as standalone, how would you be able to differentiate which copies were bought because it was a Halloween Bluray, and which copies were bought for the footage in your possession?

Golly Gee. I know that. About 60% of youtube is that. My point is that they’re in it for the money. Like all business’s are. So, my point is that this footage shouldn’t be sold for some chump change. If they’re so serious about their Halloween “fans” they’ll simply pay up and put this footage out there for their fans. They’re going to bank on it. Just like they’ve doing for 35 years now.

I have to agree with this to an extent, this and other things are strong enough reasons why nothing good and in the best interests of the fans will ever come of this footage whilst in BK’s hands, Trancas would never agree to royalties, that’s absurd.

Yes exactly I’m not made of cash I can go to one or two conventions at the most, and these are local conventions… Meaning within an hour or two from where I live, So I doubt I’m going to make it to a convention or a back yard screening in another state for 15 - 20 min’s of footage that I could watch from the comfort of my own couch… It just seems like this is more of a personal vendetta and not what’s best for the fans…

Oh, but they did. The “Cut above the Rest” documentary. Trancas has to pay the director royalties for that. Anthony, you have no clue man.

Wow, what a read, LOL! …ANDY

But you never directed Halloween.LOL

I know I’m in the minority, but I just don’t see it making that much money. This would only appeal to the main fanbase, not the casual buyer.

I’m a Doctor Who nerd, and I bring that up because that show has missing episodes - almost 100 of them that, unless negatives are found in strange places, essentially don’t exist. Yet, when they are found, they’ve been returned to the BBC because fans want to see them out there. And those are full stories.

These are clips that don’t have sound, and the actual content is still mysterious. Billy obviously wants more than what Compass / Trancas apparently want to pay, but says that Moustapha then, and Malek now, don’t understand what this footage is. So why not let them see it all, so they know exactly what it is they should be getting so excited about?

If it really is THAT GOOD and not just a shadow on the wall, then maybe they’ll change their offer and pay the cash, despite it being their intellectual property.

An alternate ending with The Shape dying? What does that mean? A longer shot of him laying on the grass? Unless it’s a whole new variation on that scene, it doesn’t sound very different.

I’ll stop there, because already I’m speculating. And that’s kinda the point. If you have something that is amazing, convince the buyers by showing them exactly what they’ll be getting for their cash, and how exactly this will translate to ‘millions and millions’ when released in the world and not the more likely ‘thousands and thousands’. Show them how this is more than a mere curio.

Ok, here is my piece.

You guys are all guilty, self included, of selling/buying nonlicensed Myers masks and making money off them. Right? I’m doing this footage the legal way. Weird. No one is entitled to see anything! Universal, Warner and the others have footage just like mine to their biggest hits…and those fans don’t even get a glimpse of it. I’m trying to get you to see it. Period…their offer, for being a “studio” was a joke. Nothing I can do about that. Sorry.

Business is business, friends are friends.

Actually I think Anthony does have all the clues and put the whole puzzle together… If he didn’t you wouldn’t be getting so mad and frustrated by him… I think this should be about the fans and not the money in all honesty. It just hurts that you choose to hold out on all of us fans like this…

“I’m doing this for the fans, but I also want royalties off of the millions of dollars they’re going to make.”

See the problem here?

But that footage is in the hands of the studio, not a fan… So if they don’t want to show it they don’t have too, But they still have the footage to THERE movie…

This is not meant to sound hostile or to be a personal attack of any kind, on anyone, but this is the conclusion I’ve come to after reading thus far…

What this all looks like to me, is a proverbial d*** measuring contest. Trancas wants the footage, but they apparently don’t want to give Billy what he’s asking. Billy claims to want the fans to see this, however, he wants a handsome sum for it and to make a nice profit, as well. Well, frankly, saying that you “want this for the fans” is on one side of the fence and holding out until you get what you want out of it is on the other. Both parties here are standing ground because both want to end up making money off of this. Again, not what I would consider having the fans best interest in mind. Billy, I’m sorry buddy, I love ya, but I quite honestly think you’re holding this footage hostage, so to speak. The fact is, is that it is not your footage. You found it and you bought it, but you’re protecting it like you made it, like it is your product, your creation. No, I cannot blame you for trying to get bought out for it, but you apparently want to truly profit from it. Why not just sell it for a little more than you paid for it and end up making back what you spend and then some? Why do you feel that you should make such a profit from it when it’s not your product? If you truly wanted this for us fans, you’d settle for that. Folding your arms at Trancas and saying “I’m not budging” makes you look no better than them, if you ask me.

Alternative footage, takes, demos from films and musicians can be viewed in a certain way as public domain. Techincally the suits can’t attack Billy…it’s a complicated subject.

Fingers crossed Billy

If you guys want the footage to ever be seen, you sure know how to butter this guy up to get him to want to release it. I butt heads with Billy all the time, we have for years, but every single one of you is crazy if you’re saying you wouldn’t want what the film is worth if you had purchased it yourself. I don’t think him expecting fair value for what it is makes him less of a fan. I mean if any of you find a 75 Kirk for cheap you’d better sell it for cheap… you know, for the fans. Don’t you dare profit. Think about what is in that footage… all of the mask test shots, alternate takes, some scenes that were shot that were not included into the film, etc. It’s VALUABLE. Billy has always been extremely and sometimes annoyingly weird when it comes to sharing things that he has in his collection. I think just him entertaining the idea of selling the footage is unlike him.

How much did he pay for it?

I hope this thread dont get locked I am so intrigued and want to read more! Been following this since day 1.

I don’t think anyone is arguing that the footage is worthless, but running around pretending to be some sort of Halloween martyr who only wants what’s best for the fans (and who’s being unfairly treated by Big Bad Trancas), then saying “Oh yeah, I want royalties from the footage. Your puny $10,000 means nothing to me.” is absolutely ludicrous.

And I don’t want to hear about how they only care about money from the guy who thinks he’s going to get fking royalties in exchange for the footage. Yeah, you’re really looking out for the fans with that one. Either find a way to negotiate or shut the hell up about the footage, cause lording it over everyone like some prized trophy just makes you look like an ahole.

I;M SURE THEY’RE SAVING THE REALLY GOOD STUFF FOR THE 50TH OR 75TH ANNIVERSARY…3D HOLOGRAM EDITION
