Im excited regardless of all the BS it would be very cool to see the footage make it on the dvd at some point in the future though hopefully some agreement can be made and all of us fans will see it eventually!
I really hope this gets worked out, there is definitely money to be made. Horror movies from the 70’s-80’s is HOT right now and the market is there. This extra footage would move a good amount of copies, much more so than just the same rehash. Now is the time to make this happen!
No, I’m not going to that one…I got invited to Flashback Weekend in Chicago, I will be going to Horrorhound/MaskFest in Indy and then Days of the Dead in Chicago. If you are going to any of those…just give me a shout.
Yeah, Shout! Factory getting this would never happen…I would make that it part of the contact, sorry. Synapse Films, yes. Don actually does all of the transfers…not just taking what the studios give him.
Shout! Factory isn’t all that great…they have left out bonus materal for The Fog and Prince of Darkness that my freind lent them. They just forgot about it…how hard is it to write something down that someone lent you to make sure it’s included? If someone goes out of the way to have it included for free…wow.
The legal Halloween property…yes. But the footage I have they can’t sue me for, it was obtained legally. And many others had the opportunity to purchased this. MANY others…at least 15 others years before I was offered.
Ok let me rephrase… For the most part I think Shout Factory does a good job and with the right supervision could do justice a 35th Anniversary Halloween release with the footage.
Well work something out so you can get Malek and Compass Internationals approval to allow you the opportunity to distribute or screen the footage publicly.
Compass is owned by my dear friend Irwin Yablans. He owes 45% of the rights to Halloween under Compass. He also created Halloween. Moustapha put up the cash, it was Irwin’s idea, concept, and he hired Carpenter and Executive Produced the film.
But Shout! Factory has done some justice to a lot of B-rated horror movies that otherwise on DVD and VHS never had any kind of supplements for the fans at all.
So ultimately, BK is going to need the approval of both in order for him to be able to release or show this footage ? like i said before i can’t ever see anything materialising at least not in the hands of BK, i received a few pm’s from upstanding members saying they are with me and in full agreement, in fact they are somewhat pissed about the whole thing.
The footage is actually camera negative… it’s yellow and the image is squished. That can’t be projected, it has to be transferred. We have transferred about 15 minutes, I have been contacted by 2 conventions coming up about showing this. Now, I’m sure Justin is reading this…I’m sure he knows, that as long as I don’t make or sell it for profit, I can show this. I can show this in my front yard. So, yeah…who knows. A surprise showing…maybe happening, I just can’t say.
Hey, Don and I get emails weekly…now, more than ever. They’re mad about the offer made by Justin or Trancas. Would you sell this footage for a mere Ten Thousand while it would go one to make millions and millions…NOPE!
But this isnt what the fans want, not all of us can attend these conventions nor hang in your backyard for a gander of a bit of unseen footage, we would like it distributed globally and made available to all, “legally”.
Did you listen to the radio interview? I state what I want in there…a million was never mentioned, that’s Justin being well…a drama queen. Like I said earlier, Trancas could have the footage for free but I want a royality on the profits. Kinda like a points system. Hell, as I stated, I’d do this all live on the radio…make a deal with them. I have nothing to hide.
