LG Electronics 43UH6100 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (does support HDR but black levels don’t reproduce black like the OLED’s do.
I do have the OLEDS @ work --I work in post.
I’m looking at the Sony 900F 4K TV. The OLED’s are nice but I heard they can get burn in. The 900F is also quite a bit cheaper than an OLED and it’s image is real close especially the black level. It also has Dolby Vision.
The biggest benefit of the new disk is the colors. The detail, well there’s less of a difference between the 4K release and the 35th anniversary blu-ray than there is between the first blu-ray release and the 35th anniversary blu-ray. The colors looking more natural and realistic is the best thing the 4K release has going for it, I’d imagine this is the closet we’ve had to theatrical colors.
I really dislike how rushed everything else is though, but Lionsgate is known for being lazy with their back catalog.
So, is there going to be another release at a later time under the 40th Anniversary title,or is this 4k one it for this year?Or rather, have any of you got any info. about such a release?
Have seen people comment on a potential 40th, was just wondering if I should get the 4k one now or wait it out for another edition with potentially more special features ect.
I’m curious how they’re able to make a 4K version of an older film? Was it originally shot in a higher quality resolution but had to be downsized for the resolution of older TVs?
Can someone list the differences between all the blue ray releases in terms of detail/colors/sound? I’m looking to buy one and didn’t know they all had slight differences
The original movie was shot on 35 mm film which has a lot of resolution. It can easily be transferred to 4K. It was just transferred to video so they could broadcast it on TV.
got my 4k UHD BluRay of Halloween 78 last night and watched it. I thought it looked great. It’s the first time I’ve really noticed the texture and shine of the mask and not just the mask itself. It’s definitely a higher resolution and I noticed a few little things I’d never noticed before which is sort of cool.
I got my Halloween 4K disc today. It looks nice but I think I prefer the THX(1999) version’s overall look. The colors were a bit punchier and the blue lighting showed more. Perhaps it was overdone a bit for the DVD.
However this 4K looks real sharp and has more of a horror movie look. I can’t wait to watch it with the commentary.
