I thought about picking this up, but all I really want is a decent blu-ray copy of Halloween H20. I’m afraid that this one will have the same incorrect aspect ratio and the 2.0 audio.

After reading how much is exclusive to the deluxe edition, I went and preordered my copy right away! I CANNOT allow such goodies slip through my fingers. Plus, this is my first time buying ANY of the Halloween movies, so I figured I’d indulge a little.
**_It’s good to see this set come to life, many things they got right…some things not so right.
The Pros
\
Finally we can see and hear Halloween the way it debuted, something most of us have never had the chance to do before.
\
“Deleted Scenes” is listed as a bonus for Halloween II. I am 99.9% sure these are simply the additional TV scenes being referred to and nothing else, but one can hope.
\
Concerning the Halloween 6 Producer’s cut the following is stated: “Alternate And Deleted Scenes (Not Present In Either Cut Of The Film)” … now THIS is intriguing!
\
The new featurettes, transfers, commentaries and interviews.
\
Love the artwork and the lithograph!
The Cons
\
No inclusion of “You Can’t Kill the Boogeyman” - Would have been nice since it’s never been available!!!
\
The Halloween II “Deleted Scenes” sounds good but I think they are simply talking about the extra television scenes, not true deleted scenes. Then again, strange way of putting it since on the Halloween (1978) disc it specifically refers to the TV footage as “TV version footage” and on the Halloween II TV cut it also states "Television Cut With Added Footage Not Seen In The Theatrical Version " (therefore not making sense for "deleted scenes, as these were added NOT deleted). My guess is just bad wording unfortunately and I’d be on it.
\
It also appears both the Halloween II TV version and Halloween Extended will not be blu ray, only HD dvd.
\
After a “slip” months back there was HOPE that some Halloween 4 and Halloween 5 deleted scenes may see the light of day soon but no inclusion of them here suggests the “slip” was merely an accidental misprint and NOT anything more. This likely confirms most of our suspicions that there is nothing new to see from either movie.
\
As glad as I am to see the Producer’s Cut come to light I’m not sure it will be Blu Ray quality.
\
H20 had some cool scenes/additional footage that was only seen in the TV and Work Print cuts…no inclusion of ANY of this??? WHY???
*RZ’s Halloween AND Halloween II still only available on blu ray format if you want the unrated director’s cuts. I don’t like the rape scene from the unrated H1 nor the unmasked Michael from the unrated H2…be nice to have a choice, especially since these versions are already available.
-The H2 discs (discs 3 and 4) are exactly the same as the Scream Factory discs that were already released. All the content is identical.
-The H2 TV version is on DVD in standard definition. The H1 TV version is on blu-ray in HD (except for the TV scenes, which are in standard definition).
-It’s already been confirmed that the Producer’s Cut is on a blu-ray disc. The content on disc 9 wouldn’t be able to fit on a dual-layer DVD (HD transfer with lossless audio plus all those extras).
As I feared unfortunately, if you already have bought the Halloweens individually on bluray, you have to drop a good amount of $$ to buy 15 discs in order to simply add the H6 (hopefully) ultimate edition to your collection. Some new interviews are good I guess but for how many viewings realistically? Sometimes new commentary is refreshing, but I’'ve found when it’s done so long after a film’s been made it can be stale, almost aggravating as often actors and directors forget things. Find it impossible to believe there are no deleted or extended scenes in existence for H4 or H5. And I’m ertainly positive they could look and sound much better than they already do. Happy for those who are just starting a bluray collection, but otherwise this an expensive H6 producer’s cut
That was what I was assuming on the H2 discs UNFORTUNATELY. I was hoping however against hope.
I knew the H6 would be on Blu Ray (format), what I mean is I just wonder if it will be in the QUALITY one would expect on blu ray? I’m hoping.
Thanks for your reply. Although I would have loved to have seen some things added that wasn’t, it is still nice to see the set coming. A step in the right direction at least.
I’m a little more than disappointed to find out that the TV scenes of Halloween are still in standard definition. I already have the DVD release from many years ago, so what am I even paying for here? And some of you brought up some things that I’d totally forgotten about, like the alternate score for H20, as well as some deleted material from Halloween 4 and 5. That would’ve indeed been a nice inclusion in this set. I’m starting to think this set really isn’t worth it and I may just end up selling mine off when I receive it.
Given the history of these releases (using recycled special features and just changing the cover art and packaging) did anyone really expect they were gonna get their $100+ worth? Having a legit H6 Producers is cool. Personally, as a whole, the set doesn’t seem worth the price of admission. I’m glad I held off.
It seems they’re really milking the whole H6 Producer’s Cut deal to sell this whole set. If you notice, that disc is the only one that is packed with new stuff. I’d expect such disappointment from Trancas, but not from Scream! Factory.
A few more details confirmed by Scream Factory:
-There are no new transfers except for H6:PC.
-The H4/5 Discussion Panel Discussion feature has been removed from the H4 blu for contractual reasons.
Very disappointing to see this box set missing so much. Where is the H2O FX TV Cut, the Resurrection Alternates… the only reason why people are buying into this “Limited Edition” Box set is because it has to producers cut. Love it… but not enough for me to dish out money in Blu rays for movies i seen a billion times. I don’t fall for those limited edition schemes anymore… guess what there will always be a limited edition in the future with the same movies again. I’ll wait for a more complete box set in the future… .
