Halloween III - Witch Hood Fabric?

I honestly can’t remember ever seeing a discussion on it, or at least a clear answer, but I’d like to get to the bottom of what the material is that was used on the witch hoods. Unless, maybe this is more “top secret” knowledge in the realm of holy latex.

Isn’t it just a short Faux Fur?

Honestly, I don’t know for sure. I’ve never seen an original DP witch in person, so I don’t know. I do, however, own a grim reaper mask from the 80’s that has a hood that seems like a faux-fur. The faux-furs I’ve seen seem to match what I’m looking for, personally. Just none in the color that I want, which would be like this:

And I have seen a few originals with hoods that are similar to that shade of blue, which was why I was hoping to spark some discussion on it.

Yeah that looks damn close Matt. I’ve never seen an original either but these look very close. Wouldn’t mind seeing the navy or army green as a hood.

I love the green hood. Oh and the fabric of it has to be velour it looks like.

This velour fabric does look like the color I’m looking for, but there’s no way of telling what the texture and thickness is like.

Yeah DrenTheLiar that is a beautiful color as well. It looks like a nice thickness but your right I would e-mail the company they can tell you exactly what the specs on that fabric is.

There isn’t a conspiracy, a secret or anything like that. Quit playing those games. No one is out to get you or not tell you anything.

What you are looking for is Faux Fur Short Hair. The fabric DPS used in 1982 is no longer available. Go either with Blue or Green and you are fine because the original fabric was green, but it photographed blue. Here is some fabric I just got in today.

I feel this is more accurate than the green fabric I was using for hoods.

Billy, that fabric looks fantastic. Pile is right, the bonded back and the weight looks right on too. Little dye and it’ll be perfect lol

Alright, alright, Billy. You got me. Thank you for posting, my man. I spent nearly all day searching online for a material and color that looked right and the short-haired faux fur was one of two that did it for me, so I’m really glad you came out with that.

I would also humbly request the link. I have purchased many different swatches of faux fur and none of them really look like the one you have there.
