***Halloween Kills & Halloween Ends Discussion***

I agree that the Thorn cult should have no place in this trilogy in terms of explaining the shape’s motives and actions on Halloween, as well any other definite explanation that goes to deep into detail.

But the origin of these motives and actions should remain in the scope of speculation. And this speculation begins with the fact that the shape is evil, which I am sure everyone would agree.

The concept of evil directly implies general concepts of curses and spirits, which could be in play here with the shape and October 31st.

Perhaps the shape has been cursed.

Mabey there is an evil spirit that inhabits and guides the shape on Halloween, while maintaining its own identity.

The point is, these two concepts do not have to be proven in ENDS, or in any other film in the franchise. But proposeing these ideas as theories in the films by characters should be OK with fans that do not like exposition or explanations.

I have been watching the moments for the film to get screenshots, and honestly, the more times I see Marion get killed in the car by Myers, it’s not so much horror, but it’s rather sad she never really gets much attention, she should have survived, rather than pull another H20 moment out of the film, also her line is not that great, but hearing her freak out and scream when Michael stabs her, it’s rather sad

seeing the behind the scenes photo, it looks like his hair and beard are supposed to be either burnt or covered in Ash.

Tinfoil hat moment, but since Ends is no longer shooting in NC (or SC, for that matter), I think Haddonfield will be completely abandoned and the film will primarily take place in another town (ie Russellville).
If they’re just changing locations for scheduling reasons, then I’m assuming Michael vanished into the night and the town is completely paranoid.

A ghost town concept would be interesting . A western-esque showdown between the Shape and… (sigh) Laurie?

Did anyone else hate the car scene with Marion, the nurse, and the doctor? I felt the camera work was awful and all over the place.

Did anyone else notice the goofy “jump” that the Shape did to get on top of the SUV? Watch it again. Its bizarre. :joy:

It wasn’t my favorite but it had potential to be a great scene. I also wish that when the kids on the swing were saying how a man in a white mask keeps popping up that he was lurking behind a tree rather than just standing in the road

Yup :joy:

It looks to me like he “flew” :joy:

I would say it’s more intense than the last movie. Violence usually has more emphasis on blood, not as much guts and gore (with one major exception). More than once someone is fatally injured in the throat and the camera lingers on them as you hear gasping and gargling on their own blood.

Yip I noticed it. Now idea wtf that was :joy:

Then just enjoy the films or hate the films for what they are? No horror franchise or any other franchise for that matter really ever makes any sequels that ever live up to the originals.

So I’m assuming you didn’t like Rob Zombies films?

Me either they were way too over the top. I can deal with his first film to an extent but the second was just awful lol.

I have to agree, but at the same time minor nitpick for me honestly. Overall thought the movie was excellent it had me on the edge of my seat, it did what it was supposed to.

Same here, lots of critics feel nitpicky as well with this movie. I’m not sure why this movie specifically is receive so many bad reviews. As a super fan of the franchise i thoroughly enjoyed it

I believe it received as many negative reviews as it did because this Halloween reboot went so far as to retcon all of the sequels and continue straight from Halloween (1978) and while I am in agreement that these films should not be compared to 1978, that leaves them to be compared to many, if not all, of the sequels, many of which were horrible and what made them horrible were terrible storylines and equally atrocious acting.

Halloween Kills had a BIG opportunity to expound on 2018 and in a lot of reviewers opinions that were pretty negative, they mention that the reasons for the subpar rating was because of cruddy acting, incredibly cheesy, and over the top, dialogue, and desperate attempts to fit in as much fan service as they could and it turned out to be too much or badly placed.

Fans of ‘Kills’ have noted that all Halloween films have had terrible acting and cheesy dialogue and my answer to that is “then they will be compared accordingly”. I had the same feeling watching Resurrection that I did watching Kills; knowing you’re watching a bad film while you’re watching it.

The flashback scenes were great. That’s probably the only part that both positive and negative reviews agreed on. Both mentioned the brutality of the kill scenes, but didn’t emphasize whether that was a good or bad thing.

That’s really interesting. I didn’t think about how retconning the sequels actually makes it more critical when looking at Kills. Just out of curiosity, what do you (or anyone) think Halloween Ends could do to finish the trilogy on a high note?

They COULD take a more serious tone with regard to how they produce this movie and that’d be a start. Be serious.

They’ve already gone heavy on cheese and nostalgia. Now they need to get serious. They’ve (Blum) already thrown out what to kind of expect with a 4 year jump in time, and political subject(s) with the pandemic involved. They might tackle the issue of mental health and suicide and how a mob of people forced a mentally ill patient to commit suicide.

Jamie Lee Curtis has already said it’s going to make people very angry, but then I was wondering if she was talking about Halloween Kills.[emoji1787]

And if Michael Myers was ever captured again and incarcerated, could he ever be found mentally competent to stand trial for his murders? I guess they kind of hinted to the fact that there already was a trial with the drawings of what appeared to be Dr. Loomis in 2018 providing testimony. Does Michael stand trial for these additional murders? I don’t know how that works in an actual legal system for an inmate who escaped and tacked on additional crimes/murders.

Does Michael go into exile for 4 years? Hard to imagine where he’d even go. There’s a lot of unknowns at this point. That’s what I’d LIKE to see answered but I just don’t want to set myself up with expectations for the film just to have DGG, McBride and Teems shit all over it and themselves in the process like they did with Kills.

How on earth MM survives is beyond me. Let’s be honest, he took enough hits to kill an ordinary man or woman.
