***Halloween Kills & Halloween Ends Discussion***

the HK script is fucking great IMO, people just want different things out of halloween movies. not to diss on adamantium’s views since he’s entitled to them, but his outlook on these movies isn’t exactly conventional from his ranking and what he’s posted previously. absolutely nothing wrong with that, but if you share the general consensus on H18 and like some of the bloodier halloween sequels you’ll enjoy HK. from what ive seen, the people who’ve actually seen it are saying nothing but good things.

based on the script, its heavy on the thrills, faster pacing, and constant tension more so than suspense or anything slow or eerie like the original. ik lots of older fans want something like the original halloween, me included, but i think the time for that was H18 and that wasn’t the movie they made. for a sequel in a trilogy, i have no problem with a rollercoaster of gore and thrills if it’s done well, which i have no doubt it will be.

Not sure what was read, but the HK script I read, which I assume is the same because I only know of one version leaked, was quite good. And I don’t know how anyone can say these characters act out of the character when this is a sequel to H1 and H18.

My only real dislike was the ending. Not to say a lot, but a character does something that just felt too much like something to setup the next film. Otherwise, the script felt quite good. We know Michael survived the last film, obvious how from the screenshots and trailer.

I liked the script. I didn’t find the dialogue bad just serviceable if anything which makes sense since DGG likes to work at that while filming. From what I heard it ended up much better then the script and the H18 film. It was well paced, brutal, badass, had some solid character stuff and an awesome ending. I love the slow burn of the original but I’m ok with this being its own thing. This is a sequel to DGG’s film and not the original. He’s making it his own and I’m going to enjoy it for what it is.

That’s the thing though, for me personally, I went in expecting it to be an extension of H’18, not any of the other sequels. I figured it was going to be H’18 cranked up to 11. But as I was reading it I found no thrills, no tension, no suspense, or anything. I found it to be boring, with really bad dialogue for a lot fo the characters, and just very shoddy quality overall.

I’m totally open for new and fresh stuff being brought into the Halloween franchise AS LONG AS it respects the foundation of what makes Halloween Halloween. Honestly, there was nothing too major in this script that outright disrespected the foundation (though I did take issue with some out of character moments for Michael) but overall it didn’t stray to far in that regard. It definitely tried to turn things up to 11, which I was expecting, but the way it was done just didn’t feel legit or earned at all. It felt contrived and overly convenient.

Yeah, I fully admit I am no fan of what DGG is doing, but I did go into the HK script with an open mind and it still let me down. (To compare that to something else, I am no fan at all of RZH but when I read that script I was pleasantly surprised).

So… we’ll see. I’ll give the film a chance and see if it can win me over.

Well our brains are programmed to like what we like, I dont think you will be a fan of this movie in the end especially if you arent a fan currently of what DGG is doing…My biggest issue was when I think of Castle…This is totally not it…Too big, No sneaky…Lots of things I didnt like…It is a cool interpretation of Michael Myers though, I stick with it for that reason… I dug the odd out of character things Rz Michael did, So if they are similar to that I am on board!

Great discussion. I have a really positive feeling this movie is going to be very good. Hopefully we will get the poster in April. I think that’s when the H18 poster dropped. (6 months before release date).

I’ve been having a blast in this thread I cannot wait for this movie. Being that we got a teaser already…Are we thinking the trailer will come later than usual?

After so many sequels and the constant of we are going back to the basics, I just try to enjoy the films for what they are, slasher movies. The original can never be recaptured, and every sequel is just someone adding to the story how they want. When I was younger I wanted the H4-6 storyline to be included again. Now that I am much older, I really don’t care. I can admit that they were not great films, even 4. 4 gets a lot of praise, and I loved it back in the day, but watching it recently, so many flaws and minor issues for me. H5 was just a mess. H6 just too many cooks in the kitchen fighting for what they want.

H18, for me, is a nostalgia film. It was well done, captured the Halloween feel. But, after repeat viewings, I begin seeing flaws. I still enjoy it, and I feel one of the better sequels.

You mentioned the Zombies films, and I always hate the idea of a remake of the original film. Zombie’s film is different for sure. I will say the look is fantastic. The pacing is just bad, the dialogue is atrocious. And the last third is rushed too much. Now his 2nd film I really enjoyed. I remember when it ended, sitting in the theater thinking, that was not what I expected. It was a tragic horror film. I loved it, and yes the white horse was lame, but for me, the look, feel, and acting was great. Scout was amazing.

After so many years of reading message boards and talking to people about the series, no sequel will please everyone. We all want something different. You have the group who wants the original again. Then H1, H2, and H20. Now H18. Or the crowd who wants H4-6 included. Then some want a sequel to Zombie’s films.

At this point, for me, just give me a good story, and some scares.

Having read it…

I think no matter what HK will be a good to great horror film. Now it’s up to personal interpretation if that will make it a good to great HALLOWEEN film. Depending on your expectations and what you want and expect from the franchise.

I read the script and it had some slight variation from what someone told me they saw in the test screening (some of the deaths I had heard about were on-screen in the test screening, but interestingly off-screen in the script).

I really like how Halloween Kills is a very contiguous storyline, the timeline of the night makes sense as do his appearances. It seems to be a very well thought out story! There honestly isn’t as much “neighborhood killings” as people anticipated. I’d say that while it is very densely packed with action, a lot of the drama is stirred up from the townspeople actively hunting for him rather than vice versa.

Man I have not read the script I am trying to go in blind but a lot of the stuff in the comments I’m reading are definitely scaring me in a bad way.
I am a big fan of H40, I thought they did a great job with it and it’s one of the better sequels for sure I really really enjoyed it so I was kind a hoping it would be similar to that only cranked up more kills and the same kind of feel and continued story. I mean it was a big hit I would think obviously they want to continue the story along the same path so it’ll be pretty sad if it’s mishmash and he’s way out of character.
Either way you slice it I’m definitely going to see it as soon as I can but i’m kind of preparing myself for a bad movie now.

I wouldn’t…I have spoken to 2 people who have seen it, One is a die hard the other is just a big fan…They both said it was amazing and is 2018 on crack, What one thinks is out of character for Michael another may not. I have spoken to them immensely about the film and that has never came up. Michael is a maniac in this one, You also sort of get your thrills and stalking out of the flashbacks. I didn’t like 2018 like everyone else did and I can still confidently say this movie is going to kick ass. It is what I hoped 2018 would be. There are two big secrets that are gonna make this movie worth it alone. One of which I know and it is the only spoiler I truly know about, The other is said by a friend who said it will be worth it alone. Hope this helps bud.

Hey man I appreciate that lol I think you were trying to help but I’m not sure it did much ha ha [emoji2371] you say you didn’t like the 2018 film? OK that, and concerns me a little bit lol
See I adored 2018, I really really liked it I argued with myself that it might be the second best film of the franchise lol no I’m not saying it is for sure but it seems to be most peoples top 4 anyway that I’ve spoken with who are Halloween fans. So given that you didn’t like the 2018 very much and you’re really gonna like Kills it does makes me wonder if perhaps I won’t like the new one as much? Lol [emoji2371] I don’t know lol
I’m confused hahah I will probably still like it but I did really enjoy the 2018 movie it’s not a perfect film but it was so much fun and I enjoyed everything really. I was just hoping to keep that sort of feeling and just get a little more brutal like they were claiming. All I can do is speculate at this point anyway right? October is still a long way away.

Only six months next month! Haha and I mispoke or perhaps didn’t come off how I wanted, I said I did not like H18 like everyone else did, Meaning some people praised it very highly while I just simply liked it…Just not how everyone else did. From what I have heard from the people who seen it, It does seem that this is the movie I was hoping H18 would be…I am ready for a balls to the wall Halloween, I dont need the original style…Stalking for an hour until the last 30 minutes. I’m ready to jump right into it. That’s why I think I’ll love this one.

Idk what people are regarding as out of character for Michael. There’s only one part in the script that might seem that way (and you can even notice this detail in the teaser, where he bandaged his own hand up). He’s not a robot, he understands the damage done to him and was just trying to fix it after one of the neighborhood kills.

Actually that was not in the trailer lol people wouldnt of known that…We’re getting into spoiler territory man he couldve passed out when he got outside and brought to the hospital where they bandage his hand…but since you just leaked now people wont speculate lolol…Not mad but that is something i wouldve liked to find out in the movie man

Speaking of that, I thought it was handled far better in a fan film sequel to H’18. He walks into a random garage and finds a blow torch and cauterizes his hand like a BAMF. I actually loved the hell out of that. That’s way better than walking into a bathroom, digging through the medicine cabinet, pulling out the gauze and bandage wrap and fixing yourself up. I could maybe see RZ Michael doing that but not classic Michael. No way.

There’s at least one other thing he does that seemed out of character. This other thing I could see RZ Michael doing but not classic Michael.

To focus on Laurie for a minute, my God is her dialogue atrocious. As I mentioned before it crosses over into SNL spoof territory with how ridiculous it is. It makes me miss H20 Laurie badly. This DDG Laurie, I kid you not, is written worse than HR Laurie. It’s like a whole other level of facepalm.

As for Tommy, I lost count of how many times he’s talking about himself or another character and intoduces the name like James Bond: “I’m Tommy. Tommy Doyle.” Or… “This is Lindsey. Lindsey Wallace.” Or… “That’s Laurie. Laurie Strode.” lol. I just found it kinda funny.

It was mentioned that certain things in the movie differ from the script so hopefully they’re able to button it up a bit and smooth out the rough areas.

On the plus side I will say my favotire part of the script involved about a 10 second moment with Julian.

Might have to bow out of this thread before other stuff gets revealed lol stinks it was going good

Are you sure you are reading a legitimate script and not the fake script that was written by someone on the net?

Yeah it’s cool if you guys want to read the script and spoil everything for yourself but there Is no reason to come in here and spoil stuff for people that actually want to watch the movie knowing as little as possible
