Reading the script to Halloween Returns which would’ve been in place of Halloween 2018 that we ended up getting through Blumhouse…Man I feel like we missed out…This Halloween sounded absolutely bonkers, I was not big on the Russellville town being used instead of Haddonfield but very minor complaint…If you have not read this script you should. This is the script that had Michael on deathrow and included Sheriff hunt’s immediate family. The whole beginning of this film or script is just so Michael Myers to me…I wont spoil it for you guys if you have not read it I will try to hunt down a link for you.

Here’s my question…Would you guys prefer this over Halloween 2018? Probably not if you’re a Laurie fan…IMO though I am going to say I would prefer Halloween Returns…

Something has to be done man, A comic, A film later down the line…A fan film with higher budget…

This script is superior to H40 in my opinion. I read this around 2016 then read it again after Halloween 2018 and I agree it was a missed opportunity to take the series in a scarier direction. We’ve seen the battle between Laurie and Michael endless times whereas this changed the trajectory of Myers, introduced new and likeable characters, upped the stakes by putting the family of Sheriff Hunt at risk and introduced a Loomis type Doctor who has a history with Michael. Great script, suspenseful and scary with well developed characters and a superb climax. I think Halloween 2018 might have “borrowed” elements from this script.

This script was awesome, I’m personally sick of jlc in every aspect of life so without her it would have been very refreshing. Still hopeful she gets dismembered in kills but
I don’t think that’ll happen lol

Thanks for the replies guys! I agree with everything said…IDC if Laurie lives or dies in Kills, It would be odd to see her get severly murdered though…I wish this was the movie we got the whole intro is 1978 retold basically.

She’s had 5 films now, and she always turns them into a trauma based film, we already had it with H20, and that was enough for me

Laurie was a bit TOO traumatized in H40. The writers decided to ignore the sequels yet they portrayed Laurie as someone who has been through H1 H2 and H20. At least in H20 we know she “watched him burn” so it included the events of the sequel and even then she was a functioning alcoholic and glimmers of Laurie from 1978 surfaced throughout. In H40 she was a complete mess and I felt we lost the Laurie from 1978 completely. It was just hard to swallow that she would still be this much of a train wreck from one night 40 years later. That the Laurie we knew, full of strength and so resourceful would allow herself to get to that point.

I only read what was in the unreleased Halloweens book. It sounded decent. The scripts that really caught my eye were some of the odder ones like Hutchinson’s proposed trilogy that goes more into Halloween III occult supernatual territory, and that unreleased script for part V from Bitterman that had Jamie as a real danger (the ending to it was weak, but it was intriguing, just not something I thought would have fit as an official sequel but has elements I’d have liked to have seen.

Yes I would have preferred this over 2018. This was a great return to form movie. Loved the parts in the corn maze and thought the ending was perfect.

Have any of you read the script for Halloween 3D written by Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier. This was meant to continue on from Zombie’s Halloween and for the first act or so it is the same violent world but once Laurie enters the mental institution it turns into Carpenter’s Halloween filled with suspense and tension. I think it would have been a great addition to the series.

Exactly man return to form great way to put it… it’s a very Halloween/ Michael Myers esque film! I weep at the thought of this never being made and can only hope that one day we get something close to it

I have to agree with many sentiments here. I’ve never liked the “trauma” aspect of Laurie. To me Laurie will always be the girl in 78’. They turned her into Sara Conner from T2 in this last film. It ruins the fear and suspense for me as it’s turned into some ufc fight. The more I watch H40 the more I love JJC but dislike Laurie. I would have loved to see what Halloween Returns could put out.

Had they have used this script and a Kirk mask it would have been awesome! Can’t forget the importance of the mask. Lol. If they used an H4 or H5 mask then the movie would have probably sucked. Lol. The best part of 2018 was the mask.

They did say they had a different script…It was a whole diff movie until they found out she was in…I wonder what that was about…She had an abundance of corny lines in the end and like you said this UFC style beef is oldddd…The last 5 Halloween movies had some sort of incarnation of Laurie Strode…H18 had a lot missing…It was weird…She welcomes Michael and wants him to escape but has drastic security measures lol…She want the beef or nah?

Returns just seems refreshing…A classic Halloween tale…Michael see’s a girl he wants…motive unknown…And it’s on
