The Obsession pics in the gallery are of my mask. It’s a great mask to start with. Great quality for the price. Considering selling mine due to lack of space. It’s signed by Tony Moran and Dick Warlock.
Thanks. I might be forced to agree with you as I think the re-haul has propelled it over the Hiro.
My masks are pretty much for display, but a great thing about this mask is that it fits me perfectly. If I ever become an active cosplayer such as yourself, this is the one I would be using.
I feel I’ve kind of hijacked Horrorfan’s thread with The Hiro vs TOTS 78 talk, but I know he just got a kick ass Obsession mask that he is happy with.
On The Hiro and TOTS 78 debate I’ve been going on about, I guess I’ll rank them in this order(with some grainy pics).
Re-Hauled TOTS 78
The Hiro
TOTS 78-stock
I will promise not to beat this dead horse any longer, but be warned, I just bought a brand new Hiro and sent it to Danny Caraballo(he did the 78 re-haul) to be reworked. Who knows, The Hiro might yet prevail
All good. No worries. I do think TOTS does make good stuff and I have a couple of their masks. I thought about a TOTS H1, but I wanted my first indie Myers mask. I really liked how Sinister Studios stuff looked and thought the prices were great and I have been eyeballing a S.S. mask for the past year. I got the Obsession and it’s pretty damn accurate to me. I’ve read the posts on my thread and some people dig theirs and some people didn’t. Everyone has different opinions. I’m happy with the turnout on mine. Now, judging solely on mine and mine alone, I think S.S. is a fantastic option for an indie mask for someone who wants their first indie mask or can’t shell out $300 for a mask. That’s my opinion, though.

Agreed. No mask is perfect(I’ve even seen some bad looking Creeps from Nightowl)but the short wait times, easy ordering off the site and relatively low price make a mask from Sinister a great pick up.

True. Heck, I’ve even seen a comment on a YouTube review of a S.S. mask and the person said that Sinister Studios stuff is every bit as good and on par with the $300 replicas from other companies. Everyone has different opinions. Ah, Nightowl. I’m 27 and I can remember looking at Nightowl when I was still in elementary school, speaking of them, haha. Nightowl and Goalie Terror were the first indie masks companies I discovered.
All right. Since the initial post was asking about Sinister Studio’s masks and I went to great lengths to defend The Hiro against the TOTS 78, I figured I’d show The Obsession since that is what Horror Fan 92 picked up. I must say, The Obsession holds it’s own very well.
Just got a new Hiro and it is at Darkness Reigns studio for re-haul. I requested that the hair not be styled(no product) by Cris at Sinsiter so it would be easier to work with during it’s makeover. Just posting these pics to show what the mask looks like when the hair isn’t married to it’s short style. Also, to show how it looks against the TOTS Shape and TOTS H2 Deluxe.
To be clear, this the before pic, I will post a new thread after it is re-hauled. I’m very curious as to how it’s going to look but I am extremely confident that Danny will crush it.
That looks much better than the TOTS 78, even better than the boogeyman, if I do say so myself, has the right shading and the right amount of flesh on it
I think that Hiro has a more accurate sculpt, though I’ve yet to see pictures that really make it pop, the obsession always looked goofy to me, but his paint work on that copy actually makes it look good, I’d like to see worn shots of that too
Like most everyone here, I’ve owned several Myers masks over the years. Of the three H1s I have right now(Obession, re-hauled 78 and the re-hauled Hiro), this Hiro looks the best to me. When you see the weathering in person, it’s just perfect. Unfortunately, it is display only as my cranium is in the 24.5-25" range so I can’t provide any worn shots with that one.
I know Danny is suppose to be listing The Obesession but he won’t do worn shots on his sales because he says " I don’t like to violate like that". Gotta respect him wanting to keep his sale pieces truly brand new.
I have a 25" GKY on the way in January and just bought a SInister 75c that I’m going to have re-hauled so we’ll see where they land in the pecking order of my H1s when they arrive.
Truthfully, for $125 bucks, The Obsession is a great pick up. One thing I’ve noticed about this mask(and it’s shown in The Embalmer’s pic), it wears much better than it displays.
