How tall should be Michael Myers ?

I prefer the Shape to be an average height and build as I believe it better personifies the intended mystery of the character.

Not to turn this into a bash RZ thread, but imo that is what Mr. Zombie missed entirely. To me, the whole point of Michael Myers is not that he was some white trash, beaten and abused result of a terrible upbringing. That is too obvious. I think it is much scarier and meaningful that he is a normal kid from a nice family in a nice neighborhood that, for no apparent reason, goes crazy out of the blue.

RZ picking a giant dude to play Michael speaks to his inherent misunderstanding of the character. I’m not surprised that the child in his movie grows up to be a deranged killer. I’m not surprised that a 6’ 8 monster can roll a car over. It’s expected.

I find it much more interesting that little Mikey Myers, “the nice kid from across the street”, suddenly turns into a killer. Or, to speak to the point of this thread, a 5’ 10, 180 lb. guy shows amazing feats of strength. I prefer the enigma.

Sorry, rant over.

Thanks for getting it out better than me
But yeah I agree with You as well!

I just have to know - what makes everyone keep calling Myers in RZ’s version “white trash?” Is it because he didn’t wear designer clothes, because the house was somewhat messy, because his mom was a stripper? Perhaps if I’m not able to spot it…that just means I’m “white trash” myself

Probably because they are a low-income white family with multiple economic and social issues, i.e. animal murdering son, abusive drunk father figure, skanky sister, stereotypical stripper mom, and with a crying baby thrown into the middle of it. They’re the kind of family you see on Cops.

Thats a perfect example of white Trash in a Nutshell.

Very judgemental, but I do agree that if RZ Halloween would have been set up without the messy low income dysfunctional family and Mikey had more of a solid background loving parents, and stable home, then he may have won more fans over. I love the RZ movies but that’s just me, but to label anything “white trash” is strange considering there is trash of all color and region.

And I agree with Bridge, Myers is internal, evil Has no boundaries.

5.10 is perfect, for the same reason i highly prefer brooker over hodder, serial killers on on steroids is not my cup of tea.

My opinion, 6’5 or taller and built! A small thin guy in this day in age to me is laughable! Dressed as Myers or Jason that is…
-Big D

When I seen Mane he was pretty thin, and when meeting Mears from F13th remake, he was built but a thin build, in my opinion. But that is also because I have met Jay Cutler(x Mr Olympia), Phil Heath(current Mr. O) and Ronnie Coleman(who I am sure most of you know) those guys are big more like huge, IMO. At the time I was 5’7 about 235 and jacked when I met Mane and Mears and I just felt neither were intimidating because of size but more so height. (but then again when I met Jeff Monson of the UFC who is only 5’6 he put both of them to shame, the guy is really intimidating). Long story short, IMO, I think anyone can be intimidating if they can work the makeup and or mask. I agree with Big D on the Jason aspect but at the same time, I think there is more lead way with Myers just because there has been so many variations. I have been as heavy as 245 while power lifting, and 210 while bodybuilding, after a few injuries and lack of time, I am now about 175 and when I meet up with anyone who hasn’t seen me in a couple of years they almost shit themselves, I remember when my size did add an intimidating factor but now I that I have lived both aspects as best as possible, I do believe its more in what the character can do and how he moves. (not considering being that heave on my frame made everything really uncomfortable but I was addicted to the iron and the lifestyle), well I have ranted long enough, sorry to bore.

I agree with most folks here have said and for the same reason. Whatever height and build Nick Castle was when he played The Shape is the size Michael Myers is in my mind. He originated the character’s movements and size, and he was the definition of the character for most people. While I don’t really have a problem with Mane’s portrayal of the character, (that’s not to say I like the movie, or the interpretation, but solely his portrayal…) his size is better suited to a character like Jason in my opinion.

Well the screen can make things look larger than they really are, so no set height is necessarily; but 6’2"-6’4" would be a perfect height translatable to real life. Tall, but not abnormally so, the kind of tall that blends in with other folks. Where I’m from this kind of height isn’t really that abnormal.

Well Shit Where does that leave me and RagMan ? i,m thinking he should b 6’4

YES I like this guys answer! This is 100% true :exclamation:  All jokes aside it,s true! Honestly a 5’9 Myers turns the corner as ur walking or a 6’3 Myers That could beat ur eyes out with or without the weapon?  I like that and i,m gonna remember u Brother Darkness

I don’t really think its necessarily the size, but how they portray the character. THAT is what might make him intimidating and scary :sunglasses:

I agree… but as stated just above, size does come into play for most people. I’m 6’ 2" and an avid weightlifter. I weigh 232 lbs. When I put on the coveralls at my height with broad shoulders, it does have an impact on people. When they are looking slightly up at me in most cases, and you throw my size in there, not to mention the great Myers costume, it’s an overall attack of intimidation.

At my size, if a guy at 5’ 9" and 190 lbs came at me wearing just about anything, Michael Myers mask or not, it wouldn’t really bother me. (Not that I’m Hercules mind you… okay… I’m Hercules ) I’m sure there are many guys that size walking the planet who could whoop my @$$, but that initial fear and intimidation factor because of his physical presence would be missing.

Maybe that’s part of Michael’s strategy though… lure them in with a smaller body frame, then shock the crap out of them with super human strength.

I think about my size or bigger would be ideal, because it could provide more of a universal intimidation. There are a lot of guys my height out there.

aaahhh, my question is still working

great opinions guys, but i see that the most of you go with the original version. like some other members posted, nick castle IS the very first Michael. So i guess 5’10’’ is perfect. Puuhh, so i’m happy 'cause i am at the same height

But that is only my opinion. Every Michael Myers actor did a hell of a job

Thank you. Whenever I’ve watched the Halloween films The Shape always seemed taller to me than the actors portraying him (due in no small part to how small most actors are), so my perception was always larger; and considering I’m in the upper echelon of the height range I gave that perception would translate to around my height. I also don’t want to perceive of a 5’11" Shape that’s as tall as my mom was; perception’s a big thing to me when thinking of The Shape’s size, as the reality of the character is more malleable than in solid ground.

And I believe that’s what is so great about the Shape, everyone can remember him as they want. But I have to be honest about it, I was 5’7 since fitth grade(making everyone including me thinking I was going to be very tall) until this year and I finally grew to a whopping 5’8. And I know from fights that my height is never intimidating(which can be an advantage in the sports world), for me to try and justify it is silly lol. But it is nice to know that the second guy, Mr. Warlock, to potray the shape was around my height, and due to his age is my height now. So at least us short guys will always have that.

Hey Mike Tyson,s short :exclamation: He,s scary as hell!
