How the heck am I supposed to afford a darn mask?

Dude , nightcreeper studios masks are only 100 bucks…thats cheap! gary’s (h30) are 105 SHIPPED , dude…you can blow 100 bucks in turkey hill…

I’m not rich either but I save my money and do a lot of things myself. For instance, a halloween 4 blank that was flawed. $45 (same price or lower than a DP mask) paint $1, hair from a beard at party city $5 in total $51 for a $125 mask.

ok take it from me, i feel ya. When i started here i thought it was insane too and yes some prices are still off the wall dumb BUT, if you look at the mass produced masks, and the inipendent masks, you really do get what you pay for. the quality and effort is miles better. Alot of people here work damn hard to both make and buy these wonderful masks and while some of us still cant, its always a pleasure to see them, and admire the work, and when we finally get one it makes the experiance so much special. Hang in there man, they aint goin nowhere. By the time you can afford them, there will be better and newer ones out there. youre the next generation for this site so i promise theres alot to look forward to!

You sound like me when I was a 10 years old (a long ass time ago). Back in the day all I could get were Don Post, Distortions , Death Studios etc, etc. What I did was mowed lawns, shoveled snow, paper route even helped old people around the neighborhood with various chores and such. When I had enough cash saved up my Dad would call and place an order at Death studios and get me whatever I wanted.

My first mask was a “PHIBES” mask from Death studios and I still own it to this day. That was 22 years ago.

You’ll find a LEGAL way, I hope  Good luck.

Viper just put it clean and clear…Dont sweat it too much bro…We were all at that stage at some point…One day you will be able to purchase some of these great replica’s floating around these parts…In the meantime try and do what Viper said…Mow lawns and do yard work for your neighbors…Shovel snow and rake leaves…I used to sit outside my local grocery store and carry bags for people in hopes of getting a tip…Things like that can add up quickly…At one time all there was to buy were regular old DP"s and these mask we have now were not even in the thought process…This hobby has come a long way with great new artist poping up all the time…Its a great feeling when you get your first mask or any mask for that matter…Especially when you work for it…But take it from me no matter your price range you will always find mask that you want more and might not be able to afford…Id give my right arm to have some mask lol…And when that day comes dont let anyone bring you down on your new score no matter how cheap or expensive it may be…Someone tried to tell me in the chat room not too long I was stupid for spending my hard earned cash for a High priced mask :unamused: …Its your money, you earn it, so do as you please with it if your obligations are taken care of first :sunglasses: …This is a great hobby and each new score is a wonderfull feeling :smiling_imp: …You will have your mask sooner or later bud I promise…Hell I have a DP RZ mask…If you can come up with 50 bucks its yours…Hang in there man…It will come just be patient…Later man

Don’t worry I’m in the same boat as you. I’ve just stumbled onto this hobby on wednesday night, had no idea it existed. I’m eager to get my first mask and do a custom job on it. I’m broke as well with only $5 and all I can do is pretty much look on the web at all the great mask. I’m hoping that soon I’ll have a good mask collection and a good horror movie collection like some of the other folks around here. Sadly the job market around here is lacking pretty bad as I’ve applied everywhere with no luck. I would cut grass but grass doesn’t grow that much in my neck of the Atlanta woods lol All I can do is hope and wait  . Good things come in time though and you’ll have a good mask collection soon.

I hear ya all the way man.
Try smiths-grove.com
They have pretty good prices for great quality masks.

Never fear, before you know it you’ll have a job and be dropping insane amounts of cash like the rest of us. You should enjoy this time before the true addiction starts.

Collect Jason masks instead. You’ll save a lot of money in the long run, AND your masks will outlive you.

Hang in there!! Be patient!! Save what you can, when you can…and buy the mask of your dreams!! Think Quality…not quantity!! One day, you will have the mask you’ve always wanted!!!

“Screw this, I don’t have enough money. I’ll just get a mask at K-Mart. I’m not rich like you guys.”

NOT all of us on here are RICH…LOL I happen to work very hard to get what I have and I’m also proud that I never use plastic to get it either… Your time will come when you can buy these masks man BUT first think of all the people out of work right now that can’t get a job or don’t have money first, hopefully you’ll realize LIFE is more important over any mask and that your parents are doing all they can

especially Tom’s RAGE mask. it’s a take off the H4 poster look and resembles a SAMHAIN

“Screw this, I don’t have enough money. I’ll just get a mask at K-Mart. I’m not rich like you guys.”

ok, that statement is alot wrong… im 14… NO WERE NEAR RICH!, i work for my money, i sell stuff, etc. thats how i afford masks, it has nothing to do with being rich, just be patient, and in the mean time, buy masks that are a little bit lower in price man, smiths grove has 2 masks that are like 75 dollars, and there are plenty of other masks out there at awesome prices, you just need to be patient, you will in the near future own some amazing masks, take care, and collecting jason masks like Wayne said, is a good suggestion, you will def. save alot of money man, take care, Z

Trust me most of us are NOT rich…we work hard and spend money on masks for our enjoyment just like others may buy paintings, rare books, jewelry, etc.

One way I used to buy things when I never had any “disposable cash” is to take stuff I no longer wanted and have a yard sale. Try that or maybe Ebay.

Also mowing yards, doing windows, having a car wash with some friends, etc etc will bring you some extra money.

For now get you a good blank and have it done up or buy a great mask at around 100.00 by some of the artists mentioned.

I have a couple masks well over 2k BUT I also have a mask or two from Gary at H30 that I love as well. It’s not about alot of money it’s about what YOU want.

Yep at some point everyone here was asking those same questions bro. From the sounds of things, you’re pretty young. Don’t sweat it. When you have a job, you’ll have some extra cash in your pocket to spend on whatever you want, after your financial responsibilities of course  . In the meantime, hang around and have some fun here!

Take care,
Frankie

Yes, work your butt off!lol
I worked at a construction site when I was in my teens. Recieved quick cash every week.
Probably had more cash to spend back then but there was no MM net at the time. Now it’s just bills, bills, and bills to pay!
Patience, saving, and hard work is definetly the key.
Also check the classifieds everyday. It’s actually a goldmine

_myers04 (Tommy) a member here does a mask called the Killer. Great mask Great price. Roughly 155.00 give or take. Save up and buy that mask. Personally to me Tommy is the best and most underrated original myers sculptor on the boards. His masks are fun, original and at a great price. Tommy is a great guy to deal with as well.

You can also buy his mask Fall Silence. I believe it is a tad less.

Not being smart but there is really no age limit for mowing lawns, painting fences, offering your back for services for people in the neighborhood such as the elderly - doing pet care/walks , helping get their grocery etc Hell sell something things you don’t need anymore , have a mini yard sale

Man get real assuming you can’t legally work as you claim so that means your not 16 yrs old. So i’m guessing 10 to 14 or even 15 you can still earn money.

Hell what did you do all summer? Ever here of a lemonade stand ?

Man, I remember the same thing, although that was almost 23 years ago. The only mask that was available to me at the time was the Don Post 86. Don’t get me wrong, I loved that mask, but it didn’t last long, and I had to scrimp and save for 3 years in order to afford another one! It wasn’t until just a few years ago, while I was in my 30’s that I could get the things I really wanted. And now, the big thing is being able to afford a $400, 000 house. And that’s cheap where I live…bah…
Keep hanging in there, and do some odd jobs and save save save!!! You’ll get there one day!

bro how old are you?
