KH H2 or KH/DW...Which is King??

I wanted to see what the general consensus was into which mask people prefer. Putting aside the KH Rare and any prototypes, which one does it for you?

It’s really close. I like the weathering on a few of the second KH releases… but some of the eye cuts aren’t quite as good as I’d like.

And on the original KH run, I prefer the earlier releases - usually w/ the gold sig on the back. Some of the latter copies appear rushed.

I think my favorite KH to date is Erik’s original (previously owned by Andrew and DW), closely followed by JonL’s (2nd release, for sale in classifieds now).

Erik’s

Jon’s

Myself, I’d have to go with the KH/DW, I mean that thing is so accurate even the nose & ear hairs are right on. :drinkers:

Actually the nose on the kh/dw is the main reason why Ken put the mask back into clay form…
If the kh/dw had the same nose and mouth as the kh sle I’d say he was a close 2nd to the SLE.

That being said, I will always have a soft spot for the number 2 and number 5 kh/dw…
But right now the KH SLE on my shelf is the best myers mask I have ever owned.

P.S. I still want an original KH for my collection so it’s my 2nd favorite myers of all time

Jon, did Ken use the same hair on the recent release? It looks similar. What did he use?

As N Ex owner … To my taste i prefer the old KH/DW… Chad i believe the hair on the new ones are not the same…

KH/DW

The new one has a fat face, not a fan of it

Chad the hair on the SLE’s is not the same as the KH/DW, it is DEAD on with the hair that is on my old 70’s blond wolfman.
I don’t know what it is though…

The new one has a fat face in the pic above because I stuffed it that way to give a worn DW look.

They are both great, but having seen neither in person it’s tough to say. From photos, I prefer the KH/DW (Especially the gold sigs!)

I wonder if Ken would sculpt a Kirk and sell raw blanks? Seems to me the community could then benefit from his amazing talent, and he would not have to deal with nagging customers! And I can imagine the likes of Mike and James, among others, would give their left nut to cut into a KH blank. Ken could easily get 2 or 3 hundred for a blank!

I doubt Ken would ever come back out and sell blanks… but if he did, I can guarantee you they would sell for more than 2-300. Plenty of guys are willing to pay 1k for a blank alone. Insane yes, but to think of what the final cost would be for a finished mask from JC or AHG - it’s quite reasonable compared to the 2-3k you see the KH’s sell for today.

Donnie’s recent pics have warmed me to the new mask, but I prefer the KHDW, by a small margin. For me the mouth on the original is the most accurate ever and I’ve never been bothered by the beautiful nose it has. Copies all through the run are stellar. I believe it is the ultimate un worn look Myers mask. And for me that is what it is all about, a mask as close to the actual Halloween hero as possible. You then transform it into the shape we see on screen through what goes inside the mask.

This would be determined SOLEY by the number of blanks produced. I don’t care how good your sculpture is, you can not sell blanks for a thousand dollars if you’re making 100 of them availible. However, if you’re only releasing a handful, the price will skyrocket.

The man himself, Dick Warlock, says the new KH’s are more accurate. He owned the Hero for 25 years so I would think he knows what he is talking about. I agree with him. :sunglasses: The weathering on the new KH’s is second to none. These masks really do look vintage.

I don’t really think anybody can get a true appreciation of the new masks unless they see it in person. Believe me, it makes a world of difference.

By the way, the #2 copy that Erik owns is one of the best masks this hobby will ever see. I have seen it in person and it is incredible. Old copy or new, there is no denying that Ken has made some amazing masks.

It doesn’t matter because it will never ever happen.

Yeah bro no problem  I am not concerned at all…I just don’t want people to start getting the hope’s to high because Ken has had hard enough time getting 6 masks out in the past 1.5 years.

Take care, don’t get mad

The strangest thing happened… all of the post offices closed down here. No way to mail it out. :stuck_out_tongue:

lol, yeah i almost heard about that on the News…Shhhucks!

Come to Mask-fest and I will let you wear it.
