***Kim Gottlieb-Walker's Limited First Edition Book!***

Hello members,

I spoke to Mrs. Gottlieb-Walker the past few days about her book. I’m sure that many of you know who she is but for those who don’t, she is a photographer who was contacted by Debra Hill to shoot production stills for an unsuccessful low-budget film that she was a script supervisor on which starred Wolfman Jack, Deborah Raffin, and Lane Caudell. That film was never released. About a year later or maybe less, Debra Hill contacted her again because she and John Carpenter had written a little horror movie that he would direct and she would produce, she asked her if she would like to shoot the stills for it. That little horror movie was John Carpenter’s Halloween. All of those infamous behind-the-scene photos with the mask(s) that we have studied came from her.

Now, about the book, she’s currently at an impasse with her publisher because she wants it to be at least 10x12 like her photo book on Bob Marley but they are saying that they are only willing to make it 9x11 which is a deal breaker for her. So, she may have to publish it herself but it will take much more time as she will have to learn layout programs first. The photo book will cover the films that she worked on for John Carpenter and Debra Hill so it will contain not only rare stills from Halloween but also stills from The Fog, Christine, Escape from New York, and Halloween II! The first film she ever worked on for Debra Hill before Halloween will not be included as John Carpenter had nothing to do with that film.

She is considering making a limited first edition photo book and she needs a list of email addresses of those who is DEFINITELY (NOT maybe) buying a copy so she can figure out how many to make for that edition, those on the list will have access to a copy. She asked me to help her with the list since I’m a member of the largest Halloween fandom site. If you want to be on the list, post your email address here or email me at colbydaugherty@ymail.com if you are not comfortable with posting your email address here. Kim will be attending the Halloween Anniversary Convention in Pasadena in November and she also will be collecting email addresses of those who definitely want to buy the book, you can get on the list that way instead of giving me your email address if you are going. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!

Also, she requested me to tell you that she would very much appreciate it if you would write to Titan Books in the UK (her publisher) to tell them that the book should be “coffee table size”, at least 10x12. It would be faster if they go with it so she wouldn’t have to learn layout programs first.

Price on the book?..

If it’s affordable which I think any book would be I’m in.

Yea, as long as the book is in the $60 or less range, I’m in, Colby.

Doh. Didn’t think about the price. I sent her a message about the price this morning upon seeing the pricing question.

Here’s what she sent me:

“I’m hoping to keep it down to around 29.95…but that was the price my publisher had for my Bob Marley book which had a 7000 first edition…so I don’t really know yet.”

Sorry it took all day for me to chime back in, I had to wait until I heard back from her. I really think it will be a bit higher than that if she ends up publishing it herself, and if the number is lower which I believe it will be since it’s limited. She’s a great woman so the price should be fair/decent, it just depends on how it will be done (publisher and number). I will go ahead and add you to the list, Matt and Jimmy.

I also got the emails and PM’s.
I would recommend you to post here to inform me if you sent me an email like some did because sometimes it ends up in the Spam/Junk folder so I would have to look through there. The list is growing, get on the list while you can!

Here’s a still of Kim Gottlieb-Walker on the set when Ray Stella let her try on the Panaglide (one of the first steadicams) that was used for the famous opening shot of the film.

This is going to be an awesome photo book, I’m glad to see that some of you are excited about it.
