As far as the forum traffic yes, it has slowed down with the popularity of the social networks. But overall it’s busier as far as traffic as a whole across the site. I miss the old days too, but I also had to move with the times.
There’s more life on the FB page but 80% of it is just noob posts. This site has been dying for a while, sadly. Derek is selling it for a reason.
I double downed on that last year when I made the forum private and not able to be browsed by guests. It’s like a club here and I like it.
Haha, I’m always logged in so I never even noticed!
Just to clarify here, the reason I am considering selling is because I just don’t have the kind of time to invest anymore. It needs more care and attention, and deserves that. I am currently speaking with two serious members who are veterans of the hobby. If I don’t get an acceptable offer I will pull the ad and continue the course as I have for 19 years. I still love the hobby, there are just a lot of moving parts that need tending to, and I’m only one person.

Completely understand where you’re coming from, man. My best friend ran the largest Jurassic Park fan forum on the web between 2005 and 2016. He closed it down due to simply needing a mental reprieve from running it. He considered selling the site, but the place was his baby and trust issues he developed in life led him not to want to pass it on to anybody else. He and I ended up reintroducing the main page, which was a literal encyclopedia, but ditched the forum entirely. I think it’s perfectly natural to want to move on, especially when you’re the one doing a lot of the leg work as my friend had been. You do a fantastic job with this place, and I hope that whoever takes over is equally as awesome as you have been for all these years.
Good luck in the sale, Derek!
Thanks for the kind words! We will see what happens

I hope you end up, not selling, and sticking around…!
The fb page ruined the original purpose of mm.net as far as being a place for discerning indy myers mask collectors. It’s now mostly a waste land of morons, hypocrites and socialist millennials who ignore reality
Hahhhaha. Perfect. I’ll never be on Facebook.

It’s actually stronger than ever. More traffic and activity than ever. Forums have less activity due to social media, but as others have pointed out, the hobby veterans hang out here and I personally like the separation honestly. I double downed on that last year when I made the forum private and not able to be browsed by guests. It’s like a club here and I like it.

It’s good to know that the site will live on… in one way or another. You’ve done a really good job with the site Derek. Hopefully everything works out for you in regards to selling it. But if not, it’s really good to know that you’ll keep it going. Nothing wrong with the way it’s going right now imo.
