After daily searching for a pair of vintage herringbone Big Macs for a year, I’ve finally found a pair of herringbone Big Macs in mint condition and I only paid $60! The size is 40R but they fit exactly how I wanted them to fit. I wanted to get shoulder pads but I don’t need them because these coveralls make my shoulders look broad enough. I will send these off to a friend for the weathering treatment and they should look perfect after that. My H4 mask by tots should arrive in 2 weeks and then I’ll be set. I will get the H4 knife that DirtknapFX will offer soon (not the tots one).
The coveralls look great, though, if you want my honest opinion about your build for a Wilbur H4, you can get Floor mat foam and cut it into sections for your back and shoulders then stick them underneath, Wilbur always looked like his shoulders were stuck to his neck
Morga pretty much looked the same, you he looked much wider, like a Bodybuilder’s set of shoulders and really skinny torso, there are foam armour tutorials by Ted Smith you can copy and alter to make a padded suit for this easily, but if you don’t feel like doing the work, you can buy motorcycle armour
The coveralls look great bro! Why send them off to somebody you can weather them easy peesy. You did a great job
weathering your Workrites.
Its super easy just sandpaper to scuff up the knees/elbows etc the only thing/step is soak it in Rit Charcoal grey fabric dye
Theyll turn a dirty dark grey color like the movie, it costs $10 bucks or less.
And the fabric wont look or feel stiff/starchy like spraypaint would.
Look at the difference a bottle of dye makes, these coveralls started baby blue. I only soaked it in one color
And if you want heavier oil stains in some areas like knees/cuffs use black fabric paint thinned with 1/3rd water
Bitte Im sorry about how the Resurrection coveralls turned out. I promise I’ll make it up to you soon.
I’ll be sending you a pm in the next few days explaining, once I get an email/updated
Nice coveralls man! Honestly, weathering the H4 coveralls aren’t hard at all. I currently have two pairs of H4 coveralls and I used black spray paint for it, got help from GhostlyShape and they turned out great. Also about Tim from DirtKnapFX, I’ve talked to him about getting a H4 knife and he’s going to be taking a vacation in 1 or 2 weeks sadly. Life is hard for him, and dude really needs time after what happened recently so you might have to wait around September to finally get a order from him, so soon won’t be in a while. Just letting you know man! Here’s my weathering on the H4 coveralls. Great score again, you nail Wilbur’s stature, just a few padding and you’ll look great!
One bottle the whole thing is enough. You only need enough water to cover the suit while dying&/stirring it.
If you want them darker you can add 2-3 tablespoons of the powdered black dye. it comes in boxes like tintex/rit/dylon.
If they are too blue like bright baby blue,or a dark navy, or too much blue is showing through,
then you can toss in a bottle of Rit Dyemore “Frost grey” its a lighter grey like H6 it will cover any blue.
These are H5 Sears in 40r. I did only one dyebath for these. This is one full bottle of light “Frost grey” and one
full bottle of Rit “Charcoal grey” I let them soak for maybe 3-4 hours.
You can leave them to soak overnight, they wont go too dark its just up to you. when they look right take them out.
They will look darker when wet, some of the dye will rinse out so dont pull them too early if your scared theyre too dark
