Never thought I would say this: tonight I walked out on a Halloween film on first viewing

Sorry for the clickbaity title. Although true, it’s not for the reasons it sounds like.

Just wanted to vent a bit.

Been waiting for this movie for a long time, like everyone else here. Bought my tickets Oct 5, like probably everybody else here. Seated in the theater tonight, a group of three to my left talked the entire time. I don’t mean chit chatted every now and then, or whispered, I mean talked non stop. It was like their brains had no filter; if they had a thought, it came straight down the pipe and out their mouths. It was to the point that I was missing dialogue. I can’t imagine these people have experienced a moment of silence in their entire lives. One of the ladies, the one directly to my left, was on her phone most of the time. A guy to the right of my wife was on his, likewise.

I made it all the way to the part from the trailers where Michael is in the shed grabbing the hammer, and I couldn’t take it anymore. At that point, I knew if I watched any further, the movie would be well and truly ruined for me, so I chose to leave, rather than suffer through the rest of it in misery.

I didn’t say anything to these people, as it would have been completely in hate and likely would have escalated to something physical. I simply spoke to the manager, got replacement movie passes (seeing it on Sunday) and an extra set of passes for our trouble.

Hope everybody else’s experience tonight has been better than mine. :drinkers:

Wow, sorry to hear that. I’m glad the theater made it right though.

Sorry to hear that, that really sucks.Hope your next viewing goes more smoothly. This is why I never go to a new movie on opening weekend, let alone opening day. I try to give it a week, maybe 2, then go after things settle down a bit. Much better experience.

Sorry to hear that man. People really suck sometime :unamused: We are going on Sunday too :myers:

You’re a stronger man than I. I definitely would’ve said something to the effect of, “do you ever shut up?”

glad you got replacement tickets, sorry the movie was ruined for you.

The movie kindve disappointed me

That pretty much happens anytime I see a movie at night or weekend to me. I usually go in the day when no one is there

I’m not exaggerating when I say that this enrages me. We had some dumbasses in the showing tonight who took out their phones and/or whispered or talked during the movie. Some people actually brought young kids to the movie. For years, I’ve struggled with this and last week I had one of the worst experiences as I re-watched H78 on the big screen. Thankfully, it wasn’t my first time seeing it, but the people that night were complete idiots. I have the number of the manager on my phone and have gone into the stairwell in the past and called to report loud talkers. I didn’t bother tonight because the whispering wasn’t that bad, but I found myself wishing Michael was waiting for one big dumbass in particular as we left the theater. I told my wife I want to invest in a projector and get a decent screen and be done with movies in the theater. I love the theater experience and it was a magical part of my childhood and adolescence, but people today are animals. Everything enjoyable in society is slowly being ruined by people who weren’t raised at all to be responsible and respectful to other people.

I know that last part’s dark, but that’s where I am right now.

I said this to my GF LAst time I went to see a big movie like this it was fri the 13th in 2009.There is always these hip hopper busta rymes loser wanna be ppl that when jason or myers shows their face they go yooooooooooooooooooooo snapppp or some shit like that. I fn hate that. I almost dont want to see it in the cinema and just wait till the dvd is out because of these twerps. And yes they will be talking a lot when its a packed sold out movie. The more ppl there the more they purposely want to be disruptive!!!. Maybe if you have a drive in therefore go there thats what I plan on doing. So far on youtube lots of negative reviews… Hope its not bad.

I absolutely agree. I just don’t understand people these days… I mean, i’m 24 years old. I like to think that i’m young and I believe everyone in my theatre today was around my age if not a little older, and almost everyone was chatting and laughing hysterically every time Michael made a kill, it ruined my movie experience. I’m right there with you about wishing Michael was there lol…If I didn’t have a broken leg I probably would have gotten physically violent with someone tonight, that’s how angry I was. Was honestly considering throwing my crutches as one group of fu***tards.

it does suck when you buy a fifteen-dollar ticket just to have people ruin the movie for you by talking or playing with their phones.

Years ago I used to go the movies practically every weekend, then it was less and less until it go to the point where now I really dont’ go to the movies anymore unless it’s just something I absolutely cannot wait to see, (like tonight.)

before tonight though it’s been a few years since I went to the movies because the last time I did I had a pretty rotten experience much like the Original Post of this thread.

I can’t stand people like that, its common sense and common courtesy to keep your mouth shut when a movie is playing at the theatre. Some of these dumbasses really do deserve to bump into Michael on their way home

I don’t think I’ve ever had a particularly bad experience in the theater besides when Kong straight-up crashed once. I’m always wondering where y’all are running into these people. Good on the theater for replacing your passes, though.

This is why I don’t go to the movies anymore. I might go check it out in a couple more weeks. I am apparently a magnet for people like that. Talkers, on the phone, stupid people that bring their small children with them, seat kickers etc…I always end up going to movies (if I even do) on a sunday morning first showing after it’s been out awhile. And I get there super early so I can get the very back row in the middle. I’ve even brought big black trash bags with me and covered the seats to each side of us. Or even dumped water all over the seats so people sit down, get all wet and are forced to get the hell away from me lol I can honestly say I hate going to the movies. If I were rich, I would buy every ticket so I could have the theater to ourselves lol Best thing to do is get a shit ton of friends and sit together so everyone else stays the F away. I just can’t believe how people act these days. Just ruins it for everyone else.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience man, Im right there with ya lol

Yikes! I feel for you guys. I have a no tolerance policy in the theatre regarding phones and chatting during a film. I will ask reasonably if they can get off that phone or leave to attend to the call or if they are texting, I explain it like hey friend please save it till later or I am seated a couple rows behind you and that thing is like a plane with its landing lights on. Allow me to help you make this a better experience for everyone.

Usually they are cooperative. People have to wake up. This is getting out of control and in our theatre we have ushers flanked on the side in full theatres.

The guy sitting directly in front of me last night, spent the entire time on his phone looking up NFL stuff… no kidding. The entire time.

Why do people pay to see a movie just to sit there fannying about on their phone which they could do at home for free

When he came in with his GF, she was the one telling him all about the new movie (she knew everything) he seemed like he had no idea. I knew right there and then that he was not interested in this movie and wasn’t gonna watch it (he was just there for is GF) but he actually spent the entire movie on his phone. The guy sitting to my right was pissed, I thought he was gonna have heart attack about it lol

Leave kids at home!! Hate it parents bring in kids to scary shows and they talk non stop , passing candy, going to the bathroom, explaining what is going on.

About 3 rows down from me was a Mom with her 16 years old daughter and 17 year old son. About 20 mins into the movie the Mom passes the daughter a hoodie, who then stands straight up, puts on her hoodie and zips it up pulling the hood up… I’m like, come on, use some common f-ing sense.
