usually takes nik a while to get through emails. cant imagine it’s going to be at 2k level price wise but who knows. this converted looks like it could rival the 2k in terms of the perfect Myers mask. I’d buy one but it’s just so hard to get anyone worth while to work on a mask conversion these days.
I like it. It’s certainly refreshing to see a new Kirk that looks good and isn’t recycled from the same old master. Not to knock those that derive from the 98, that thing has given us some of the most accurate masks in the game, but it’s just nice to see something “fresh”.
Sean shows it in full on his YouTube channel. The mask has been in the works for around a year now, and the first prototype copy was sent to Sean about a year ago. There is a long detailed video of the mask, comparing it to the original, how it was done, etc.
Just look up malfuncsean Kirk Comparison and it should come up. That will give you everything you need to know, see, etc. At that time Sean wasn’t sure if Nik was going to produce it for sale, but said that he definitely should. Now he is.
That’s a completely different mask. The one he made a video of is the Prime 75, a sculpt based on his CURRENT Kirk, while this one, I think, is based off of his old Kirk, which was destroyed a long long time ago.
Back in the 90’s he found a Kirk, cast it (and supposedly ruined it) to make the Sean Clark 75 Small, a small recast of a legit Kirk, the first we’ve had. He then made a blow up of that cast to make something actually wearable, he founded Silver Shampain Novelties and offered castings of legit masks made for the movies (or retail masks in the Hallowen 1-2 Kirk and Halloween 3 trio) for Halloweens 1-Resurrection. The man is probably more responsible than anyone else aside from the mask makers for the originals for this part of the hobby becoming what it has.
He also is responsible for those features on tons of blu-rays (usually Scream/Shout Factory) where he visits the original locations for movies. Also runs a business representing actors and booking them in conventions and such.
