Not all the same mask

Hi folks iam pretty new to this page so sorry if this topic has been brought up before in regards to the same mask being used in h2 I think some of the scenes its not the same mask u can see the different even in the photos in the gallery on this site the scene where we see michael in the car mirror at the hospital looks like the original mask u can even see its stretched out on the neck area and also the scene where he stabs the nurse in the eye with the needle u can see the mouth of the mask goes to one side also it doesn’t look as round on dick warlocks face its got the castle stretch almost does anyone else agree possibly the original wasn’t used in every scene

Research research research.

The research all points to the same mask being used. Bad storage and wear and tear contributed to the different look, but more importantly Warlock had a large round face that pushed the mask out more to the sides. Nick Castle has a long narrow face that stretched more vertically.

And Warlock also added Velcro to the neck, since he hated it flaring out

He didn’t like the collar flaring out? Is that what he means?

No, the neck of the mask flared out too much, so he put velcro on, closing it up and stretching it even more

It’s all the same mask. (Well, in this instance I needed Tony Moran to fill out the collage, but same sculpt).

Same mask in that they’re all converted Kirks. Not all the “hero” mask though.

theyre the same mask

The hero is indeed the same from H1 to H2, just stretched differently due to the wearer as others have pointed out.

There is weathering that is consistent from H1, to H2, all the way to present day.

Halloween used at least two masks that’s been proved. Many theories but the facts are in Halloween 1978 and Halloween 1981 they used the main hero mask and a stunt mask.

The stunt mask in the second film is used during the last scene when Laurie shoots the shape in the eyes. There’s a patch of hair missing and eye cuts are slightly different. This same mask was used in 1978 when the shape grabs the buy at the school.

There was also a 3rd mask used for the burning end credits in 1981.

So mainly the hero was used in 1981 through the years of wear and tear and being handled by many people it got dirty and dingy. Dick warlock and Nick Castle and Tommy Lee Wallace had different shaped heads so that explains how the eye cuts look different in 1981.

Pretty interesting story about the mask.

This is correct^. Multiple masks were used in both, but I focused on the hero in my post since the two scenes that the OP is referring to is the hero mask.

How come the mask looks fine in the 1980 Saturday night live promo pic ? There is an interview with tlw he says that don post made the masks for h2 and it was made thicker thats why it looked the way it did on warlocks face

The 1980 SNL promo pictures are the stunt mask from H1, not the hero. Tommy Lee Wallace had no direct involvement with Halloween two, if he did state that in an interview it was just him speculating, cause that is not the case (as far as them being thicker).

Is there any confirmation that the last picture in this collage is of Dick Warlock wearing the mask? I believe it is but I’m curious if it’s been confirmed. That’s one of my favorite images of the Shape.

I remember reading somewhere that the last picture is actually the mask on the ground, not being worn by anyone.

The speculation on the photo mostly lingers from a time when we didn’t have an HD version. With increased contrast you can see Dick’s eyes. You can also see his shoulder and coverall collar.

How do we know it’s Dick Warlock in the mask? It looks like it was taken during H2’s shoot but could it have been someone else wearing it?

It’s very likely Dick Warlock in the mask. 99% positive. The side by side photos in the collage show that the stretch is nearly identical, the only difference being the neck was velcroed closed in one photo and not the other. It shows how GREAT the mask looked on Warlock when it wasn’t velcroed shut in the back.

Mostly context. There wouldn’t have been another reason for someone else to be donning the mask and coveralls, and if there was we’d have heard of it (minus reshoots, but the stunt was used for that and the mask above is the hero).

Also the way the mask stretches is the biggest clue/dead giveaway to who it is under there. Every persons head makes this mask shape differently. The way in this photo is exactly how Warlock’s head shape distorts the mask when it’s not pinned in the back.
