Original 1983 H3:SotW "Smiling Jack" Mask SCORE!!!

Nice find. I like that it glows creepily.

Thanks guys! I was thinking about getting it repainted. I might also consider a trade for something at some point in time but for now I’m going to hold onto it. I have it stuffed and on a styrofoam head right now.

What a great story
Big congrats man!
and yeah…switch the Ghostface!

Love it!!!

freakin sweet score man! and wow i like your plan for the scream mask     i have 2 of those and they are awesome! why don’t you make an offer she can’t refuse?

Cuz I don’t have the money to make an offer she can’t refuse. lol

but do you have any hood less masks cos that mask will be hood less!

It had a full polyester hood. So it’ll be easy to replace.

Awesome score! Knowing me, I would of flipped when she pulled the mask down  I had no idea that DP made two different Pumpkin masks…they’re not too much different but you can tell they are when you look at the mouth and how far the eyes are away from each other. Just a few slight differences. But it’s still awesome! Great score!

Thanks guys! It’s awesome to finally be part of the ‘sweet score’ crowd!

i didn’t know either! i guess in this hobby you learn something new everyday right?

Same here! All I saw was a date, the pumpkin, and “Don Post” and I knew I hit some sort of find. But I didn’t know anything else until I posted it here!

I kinda feel like I’m not the person to have something like it in my possession. I know nothing of caring for antique masks, so I’m hoping I can find someone who can take care of it (for a price or good trade of course). At this point I have it stuffed, I’m trying to avoid dust (that it has been subjected to for 27 years) and I’ve even cleaned the inside softly with a wet towel, dry towel, then lightly with talcum powder to absorb remaining moisture. I would love to see it repainted and if anyway repaired seeing as the mask used to be rented out so for child-safety two cuts seem to have been made along the sides. The cuts have no danger of tearing anymore because they’ve been hole-punched. For 27 years of being abused and left subjected to dust on a shelf, I must say it looks damn good!

Does anyone know anyone who could repair the cuts on the sides and give it a good repaint?

seriously, i don’t think those tears are repairable! but i don’t think it matters anyway! most people would put this on display and not wear it so if you display it right, you won’t see them i am sure! but yeah, tears like that are not repairable unless you recast it and make a copy  jk

does cuts on the sides dont need repair, thats how the mask came

And even if they were not put there, I think those would be pretty easy to patch together without any problem. Tears are easier to fix than rot.

I didn’t know they were supposed to be there. But if you wanted to fix them, you could easilly tape of the outside of the tear with masking tape then brush latex on the inside. Just make sure to build up the layers thick enough to hold the tear together.

Okay… Just going out on a limb here but does anyone else have a “Smiling Jack” that they can post for comparison? Cuz I have people telling me the cuts belong there and others telling me they don’t.

Plus I looked up “Blaze Orange” Day-Glo paint and it’s only sold by the gallon and is $81 bucks a gallon… Oh mah Jesus… :open_mouth:

I’ve had two in the past ten or so years. I can try to find pictures for you but neither were cut on the sides. Jon, have you seen these cut on the sides before? And Kenny is right, it’s just like the neck slit in the back, would be very easy to seal back together.

I just put it up for sale on the bay… sadly… Times are tough, and I need the money. I hate to see the beautiful thing go.
