Original 75 Kirk Roll Call (With Pics)

Updated the list with some extras. Been thinking about adding a Spock list in a new thread.

I like the way your thinking Nathan

I see you got some pics from the Kirk archive FB page and forgot to share the link. Figured I would post the link here so everyone can check it out. Tons of photos and infos.

Correct. I’m debating adding the ones that are completely gone, but I want this to be a list of existing kirks so I don’t know if I should.

The Santa Kirk pics are mine. I got the December 1976 polaroids and scanned them. I only shared the photos with a few friends. I met up with the owner and searched for the Kirk with him through many boxes in storage. He said the last he saw of it was several years ago when he was putting it in a box and that it was still in a great shape then.

Wow! Very cool. So how’d they end up on the Facebook page? I’m curious how you found/know the owner. Did he specify any amount more specific than “several”?

Can we pin this thread? Super great documentation of the centripetal force of this community. There are also various Kirks from the Facebook page not listed here.

Thanks Nathan!

Hey Jo! Thanks a ton! This initially took a ton of time, then I didn’t add more once I saw the Facebook page . Glad to see it revived :drinkers:. Also as for pinning it, I doubt anyone will since there are so many pins already (same with my rare pic photodump thread). Best I can do is probably put it up in the definitive guide.

Again thank you my friend . More stuff coming

That’s not too bad of an idea. Perhaps it can be added to the part 1 section of that thread?

Something I’ve never considered: is there anybody out there who has or wants this for their Star Trek collection? Does this mask have any cachet outside of its ties to Halloween?

Definitely! I had a guide to the correct coveralls that me and Boheric made but photobucket fucked that one up so I don’t have the photos. I may redo it soon.

Oh hell yes man. I know of 2 or 3 owners who have it because of their Star Trek connections.

Is that even an original 75 Kirk? or is it a TOTS?

So looking at those original Kirks after conversion, why do most of them, without disrespect, look horrible?

It wasn’t as if they performed magic on it originally. Its amazing how only a small number of people can get excellent resuts.

Just my opinion, but after conversion, with the exception of 1 that i see, they all look dreadful.

The mask would’ve been better left alone.

I agree totally. Most converted kirks look totally botched. But one thing to consider is not only that these were super quick conversions, but the time each was converted. If someone had the kahunas to get an original 75 Kirk converted today it would probably look much better. When most of these were done, most of the amazing hero reference we have now wasn’t publicly available.

One more thing is that you’re probably subconsciously comparing it to the hero, which no Kirk conversion will probably ever match up to.

I know Hyperflesh 3d scans their character mask with amazing results. Game changer in sculpting and mold making.

So did you just go to the mm.net gallery and just make a thread lol.

No I went through years of posts and photos I’ve saved, wrote down each copy and owner, and then made thread. Most of the Kirk pics in the gallery now are ones I’ve uploaded lol.

Idk if I’m just bad at reading “internet tone” but it feels like there’s some sarcasm in your post and to my knowledge we’ve never even spoke

Well put. I failed to realize that the information back then vs now, considering these were in fact converted back in the dsy, was hardly existent.

And yes. that is exactly what I’m comparing to.
Which makes it so ironic…

A what is perceived to be a basic prop, has turned out to be a very detailed sculpt which is only rivaled by a small few. You would expect the exact results when using the same platform…

Whoops ! It’s a tots
