Change is always weird at first, and it def took some time getting familiar with it, but the more I use it, the more I like it, kudos to the person that did all this, I thinks its really cool ā¦Just one question, how the hell do I log out? I canāt find it anywhere
ā¦Oh I found it
me slow
I did love searching for a topic and going back 10 years or more to see how opinions and things changed, and what hadnāt
This is legitimately awful. The board was already losing activity and this feels like the nail in the coffin.
Itās weird because we started out as a basically an MSN chat room. That was in 2001. Somehow this is worse. But the storage is cool so whatever better here than FB so hereās a mask photo to make things better
Thanks @JimmyDevolo ! We know the new platform wonāt appeal to everyone but an overhaul was needed. Please let us know how we can improve the new forum experience.
Evan
Thanks @Motivation ! Please let us know of any bugs you find so we can try and address them.
One good point of feedback- Iām now able to google search something and when it links here, it goes right to the topic and doesnāt make me login every time. I think itās important to preserve all the old posts and information compiled over the past few decades
Does this new site no longer work with TapaTalk? If not, youāve destroyed the only way many of access this site. If enough members signed a petition, would the old site be restored or TapaTalk functionality? Iāve been here eleven years and canāt believe something like this will end my involvement. Many feel the same way.
Hey guys, Derek here. While I sold the site a few years back, I do still lurk. I have been talking with the new owners about how to make this new software a more enjoyable experience for our veteran users. I am not familiar with this new software (yet).
One adjustment I have made so far is to have the front page of the forum show categories first, like the old list did with the last forum. Another thing I have been trying to do is merge the āgeneralā with āgeneral discussion.ā That is still in the works. What other adjustments would make this a more enjoyable experience?
If you would like to poke around and look at other communities using this software, it is called āDiscourse.ā One issue with the old forum was that the database was beginning to become corrupt and a change needed to occur. At this point, discourse is designed to compete with the modern changes that are necessary to remain relevant in an online community environment.
Unfortunately Facebook has changed the game. If you didnāt know, Facebook actually deleted our group with thousands of members which had years of content. Communicating here is protected and cannot be shut down at the click of a button like Facebook groups.
I totally understand that this is a huge change and especially for those of us who were using the last forum software for over 20 years. We can work together to perfect this and get it as close as we can for all involved.
Derek,
I appreciate that you are trying to make the forum more familiar and user-friendly for the āold-timersā around here like myself. My main concern is TapaTalk. Iāve watched two other boards I used to frequent go away in the last six months, one because the owners no longer wanted to run it and the other because they switched to new software thatās no longer TapaTalk compatible. I canāt speak for anyone else here, but 99.9% of my time spent on these forums is through that app. If that compatibility is gone, a big part of the experience will also be gone. Please consider this as adjustments continue to be made. Thank you.
Sadly, Tapatalk is not supported by Discourse.
Theres no way to revert the changes??
I do not believe that is currently an option.
This is unfortunate. Is there not another message board service that could be used that has TapaTalk compatibility? Also, a direct question: would a thread about an alternative site for Myers/Halloween fans that does have such capability be allowed? I think some people here would rather move to a new board that supports TapaTalk and something closer to the old experience than adapt to this.
Please check your DM messages.
Given the investment that the new owners have put into the new platform, I doubt that is an option but I cannot speak for them. I would suggest making a shortcut on your smartphone which would bring you straight to the forum.
This is a straight rip off of the social. They tried to compete but dont know how to set it up correctly like the social is. Shouldeve kept it how they had it

People donāt understand. Most complaints have been people who joined after H40. Being here for 24 years; before phpBB, you had us all in a chat room basically. This is like that on steroids.
Speaking as a veteran in the hobby, us older heada enjoyed the old look due to nostalgia. The advancements on Facebook were great, but after [whichever scumbags] reported the MMnet group, I lost interest.
This feels hopeful and honestly after installing tbe browser add-on is much more simple to be notified of messages more promptly. Most people wouldāve walked away after the sale a few years ago. You didnāt, and are a staple of this community. I hope you stick around no matter what man. This will always be family.
