From what I can see, Sinister Studios makes replica masks of famous horror icons like Michael, Bubba, and Freddy. However, the one I am most interested in is the Obsession mask. Can anyone tell me about its quality in comparison to the Creep, and how it compares to it in terms of screen-accurateness?
Can I get some evidence pointing to it? I want a screen accurate replica that I can wear for Halloween (not this year, but next year for certain), but I don’t want to destroy my wallet for the $335 for a Creep. XD
I’ve owned a couple Obsessions and I’m still not impressed. Their masks look good from certain angles, but it’s looking at them straight on where they lose accuracy. Paint is also usually way too grungy and the hair sucks
Fair. Are there any screen-accurate myers masks I can get that won’t destroy me financially for the moment? I may be getting a retail job soon, but I currently am only working for a haunted attraction for 3-5 hours a night for 9 or 10 dollars an hour for Thursday-Sunday in October alone. ;_;
All I can say, this is in general for any quality mask, 9 out of 10 times you pay for what you get. Look up old threads pertaining to masks. You can see the difference between a Sinister Studios Obsession compared to any NAG JC, AHG, Freddy Loper 75K’s. There are several artists other than those three I was just using and example. Be patient, save your money and find the right mask. You can always buy a TOTS H1 and have Uwannadon convert it.
Check out any of Kauzi’s posts, where he makes posts like these. The Creep lines up to the Kirk converted masks from the first two movies to a T. It’s no contest, and it’s definitely worth every penny. $335 is about middle of the road for prices in this hobby, where an artist converted blank can run you about $400 or $500 depending on the blank and the artist’s price, and you can get a good mask for around $150 to $200 if you’re patient and being thrifty. I’ve paid anywhere from $70 for TOTS masks to $335 for my own Creep, but most of my masks have ran me around $200, and I have a collection I am proud to brag about. This is an expensive hobby and, for many of us, it’s an investment. Be prepared for what you’re getting yourself in to. I, for one, know I see the Hero every single time I look at my Creep:
The evidence of superiority comes from the manner in which the Creep was created, in comparison to the Sinister Studios masks. The Creep was created by the use of a Shatner life cast (just like the 1975 Don Post Kirk), which the Sinister Studios Myers masks, were not. They have no lineage in anyway to the 1975 Kirk. They are merely ground-up, stylized, Myers masks. And are in no way, truly accurate.
I totally agree with this. I’ve owned a lot of expensive masks, but I usually sell them to upgrade, so I don’t have a big collection anymore. Starting with the Sean Clark mask, they’ve only gotten better. Now I finally have a Creep and I don’t see any other mask that compares. If the original poster is looking for something next year, that gives him plenty of time to save up
So the general consensus is “Get a Creep.” Jesus, I wish that these masks were cheaper. XD To me, it just seems ridiculous to pay over $150 for a screen-accurate mask. Nonetheless, I’ll probably dish out the cash at the end of the month when I’ve got my money to get not only a Creep, but find a pair of Big Macs that fit me. Kinda hard to do, since it’s hard to find coveralls small enough to fit me, along with the exact color specs that the originals had.
The creep is by far the cheapest option for a good mask.
All the other popular nice masks will cost you $200-$300 for a blank then another $200 range to get converted.
I truly think you will be the happiest tho if you look at the gallery and find a mask that you like instead of having us tell you what is good.
That’s the problem though. I don’t know what’s good. XD All I know is that you guys say that the Creep is the most screen-accurate, and can be made to either H1 or H2 specs. I want screen-accurate to the extreme.
