Bummer I predict it’s just going to be another cash cow that I’m not looking forward to 40 yrs. later…
Heres a movie on youtube that you can see Courtney in and see how he moves. Fast forward about half way. Big guy in a dark suit and long hair. He’s in it quite a bit.
I think maybe he is too tall to be Michael Myers. He is 6’ 3" & Nick Castle is 5’ 10" and there is a big weight difference between the two so it won’t be hard to tell which is which during the movie. We will just have to be patient and occupy ourselves until Oct.19. Me personally I think they should have made the movie set back in the 80’s with new characters for the shape to stalk on Halloween.
You won’t be able to tell the height difference. Camera angles / lights / shadows can easily hide that.
Wow, he is a big guy…and he’ll tower over JLC and the other female characters.
We’ll see how it goes. I’m not going to poo poo on it without even seeing a teaser, poster, or full trailer. Just be happy it’s going back to the roots, I say.
Count me as somewhat happy Nick isn’t doing a full movie as MM. Seeing MM with a gut would give me H6 flashbacks…and that ain’t good.
This is the best pic I could find of him and he looks like he’s in good shape. No pun intended.
One one hand they are upsizing him… which is a bit annoying, but at least he’s not full blown giant wrestler like Rob did with his remake. Myers should be an everyman and pretty normal height ranges. I think that makes it a lot creepier than just being a big dood who runs around imposing his weight and such. As I’ve said many times Michael should be an ambush predator like a spider. Size isn’t really a factor for what works.
But going from 5’10, 170lbs, to 6’3, 210lbs is a pretty big difference, but not too big. It’s just hard to find a pic of him standing up haha.
He seems to have the chops and acting background to get the job done, so we’ll see.
I know Nick is pretty out of shape as an older man, which is fine. So obviously he couldn’t wear it forever.
A good way to look at it is that Castle was the only main actor to play Myers in the first. There were several such as Debra Hill, Tony Moran, Tommy Lee Wallace that played Michael in the original.
Yeah, there was something like 5 or 6 different people (possibly more) donning those masks and coveralls back in '78, and the movie and character is still iconic today as he was then. With only two main actors donning the mask (and I believe James Courtney is only doing stunts and action stuff, right?), we should have nothing to worry about. With Nick back to give his iconic ghastly walk and stalk, I think we’re in for a real treat this round.
No, in the new guy’s interview he equates Nick’s roll in this to a cameo. He made is very clear that he is the new Shape and Nick is just doing a few scenes.
He even says they did a scene they were both in together which leads me to think maybe Nick is just doing flashbacks/hallucinations ala H20.
Hopefully this James Courtney will get the “walk” right.
Agreed. The best advice he can get would be just like back in 78 when John Carpenter told Nick castle, when he asked how he should walk, “Nick, just walk”. Well James, just walk
I still believe Nick will have a beefy role in the film.
Nick said he shared the role with JJC 50/50. JJC said he only had a cameo. I’m thinking NC will be there for the close-ups, probably most of the scenes with Jamie Lee Curtis. Either way, we won’t be able to tell who’s under the mask anyway. I do think Blumhouse is getting on HalloweenDailyNews about the interviews and such though. As much as I love them, I don’t think Blumhouse was ready to reveal half of the things that were revealed by the actors. Hence, why they removed Chris Nelson’s interview.
Kind of a bummer for them, but either way - I think everyone should have an open mind. Getting all tied up about who is and isn’t playing someone behind a mask is a very minute issue in scale of the whole film. Much more important things to worry about in my opinion. if JJC does a great job, then great. If he does a good job ala majority of the sequels - will it totally bring the film down? I doubt it.
Let’s just wait until we see some footage shall we? I think people will be pleasantly surprised.
Exactly.
I’ve been keeping this as quiet as I could until release but I wanted to share with you my brand new podcast interview with our new Michael Myers, James Jude Courtney. Please let me know what you think and I hope you all enjoy it.
