I’ve heard a rumor that the film is going to focus on how the events have affected the people of Haddonfield, with Myers not showing up until the end for a final confrontation with Laurie.
Aaaaaaand we’ve delved right back into the reason why the Sequels after 2 lost focus on what made Halloween in the first place. They’re trying to jump the shark. I want to see what the end of this dumpster fire will be. But I don’t want to see Halloween be relegated to its place after Resurrection or after Rob Zombie.
Carpenter also said to Chris as a compliment “Looks like shit” to his mask sculpt, so I wouldn’t believe a lot of what Carpenter says in a serious way, he’s not as bad as James Cameron with Terminator films, yet
I wouldn’t, they can only copy Resurrection’s intro where Laurie dies, and Allyson survives as the “Final girl” which at this point, is really old and cliche, Michael just needs to erase the Strodes for good, there’s no Clause in the contracts saying to keep them alive, and they say that they “Can never kill Michael Myers”
I agree! The clause is however…slightly different…You are partially correct, The clause is that michael can never be mortally wounded, (head blown off or dismemberment type stuff)…or else RZ H2 michael would not have died…even that was cutting it close haha
All I’ve heard about this upcoming movie is how it’s a departure from the last two movies. Jamie, John and Chris all have said it’s different…almost like a warning shot. Rob Zombies Halloween II was a major departure from his previous film, and, took a lot of flack for it…personally, I liked it. I guess this is probably what’s in store. It’s weird, no one, in the Halloween camp, seems enthusiastic about this movie…it’s almost dreaded.
John carpenter Is person who loves to be extremely negative attitude towards things so I never pay attention to what he says. I enjoy all horror movies for what they are but people act like horror movies are gonna be master pieces. I just rewatch all friday the 13th movies and acting is extremely terrible but I love watching jason do his thing so for me I’m good with that. I rather be more positive about things watch the movie then I’ll give my opinion about it but james jude Courtney gonna be amazing myers and my 2nd favorite behind the og castle always be goat for me
My theory (based on less than little) is that the studio pushed for Kills… I suspect DGG and DMcB had an idea for 2018 and Ends and the studio said, “why not a trilogy?” Again, this is just my theory, but let’s be honest, Kills was unnecessary in almost every way.
I think this “departure” from the formula was perhaps what got JLC and JC interested in making these films in the first place. I don’t think either of them would have been interested in being a part of another re-hash.
Like Patrick Stewart reprising his role for Picard… he was approached countless times over the years and pitched numerous ideas, none of which felt like a new take. He declined over and over until someone came up with an idea that felt fresh and gave him more nuance to explore in the character of Jean-Luc. I seriously think this was the case here, too. I think this “departure” is exactly why JLC and JC agreed to be a part of these films. I don’t see this as a bad thing at all, and I don’t think the actors or director or writers are dreading the release of this film. I think they’re taking a calculated risk and hoping people enjoy it.
I’ve pretty thrown my expectations out the window for this movie. That way, I won’t be thrown off when watching ang judge the movie fairly. I suggest everyone do the same
He has also said it’s always about money money money……I believe that and a neat thing happens whenever a Halloween film is made “I get a check in the mail”.
John talks to different audiences at different times. Just have to decide what audience you are part of.
Agreed. I had hopes for HalloweeN H20. It was awful. These films are the same. Better kills etc, but it’s hollow and the characters are god awful. Couple comedians writing scripts. 1978 is 1978.
I don’t think it’s a good sign if anyone is comparing these three films to Star Trek: Picard lol; though I always felt that this trilogy was following in the footsteps of other soft re-boots/continuation in recent years (some that came before, some after) like the Star Wars sequel trilogy, the last two Terminator films, the newest Texas Chainsaw Massacre film, Picard, re-boots to classic cartoons like He-Man, Thundercats, Voltron, Animaniacs, Duck Tales, Rescue Rangers, etc. They all rely heavily on nostalgia to hook you in then try to add their own touches that by and large don’t pan out. I think Top Gun: Maverick is the only one of these types of re-boots/soft re-boots/late sequels from this current trend (so discounting Rambo 4 and Rocky Balboa, both of which came out roughly 15 years ago) that was universally loved.
The Halloween soft re-boot trilogy unfortunately seems to be going the same route as the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Release an initial film that relies heavily on nostalgia bait (returning actors and crew members, “props”, and references) and by and large plays things pretty safe though feeling different than the classics due to the different key crew members; then comes the second movie that takes a turn, divides the fanbase, kills off some fan favorites, and hurts anticipation for the third. The third movie in each had a change of plans, Star Wars’ third sequel trilogy entry had its’ screenwriter and director sacked due to the negative feedback on the second entry and instead brought back the writer and director of its’ first entry; Ends during production of Kills when they were going to be shot back to back and in film continuity end up taking place on the same night, changed course and instead was shot later, with the film to be taking place four years later. Now you can only hope Ends isn’t a crapshow like Rise of Skywalker was, but much like that film coming off of The Last Jedi, if it were it’d only be a lateral move from Kills.
You bring up a great point. As a fan of both Star Wars and Halloween, I feel the same way about this trilogy as I did about the Star Wars sequel trilogy…they simply aren’t necessary. I always felt that the true story of Star Wars (which is essentially the story of Darth Vader) was wrapped up nicely in 2005 with Revenge Of The Sith, thus making more films unnecessary…the story was told. Halloween on the other hand, has just been needlessly milked to death for years, long before this new trilogy came along. Unfortunately, both franchises have sadly fallen victim to this new trend of relying purely on nostalgia for new films instead of actually making something new and original. To make matters worse, I’m already seeing people on Reddit talking about what they should make after Halloween Ends, including tv shows…I wish they would just let it rest.
