Hey all. Just updated some info and added more pics. Mainly in the H4, H20, and HR section. After having a discussion with Kaizu some stuff needed to be fixed. Big thanks to Kaizu and everyone else that has been helping me, without you this thread would not be awesome! Happy reading.
Hey all, once again another update. I added a proper description for the Hero mask in H1, and I added some small info to the H2 Hero mask description. Thanks, happy reading.
Hey all, another update. After some talk with fellow community members I decided to do a major fix up to the H40 section of the topic. More pics of the hero, correct pictures of Nick Castles mask, and more. Thanks. Happy reading!
I didnāt known that was the Hero mask for 2018, I always heard Nick got the Hero and many artist been using that as a reference. Got any more pics of it, doing a Rehaul.
Itās a huge misconception with little to no evidence to back it up. The mask in this post is the mask that was used the most throughout filming. Chris Nelson documented which mask is which and 100% that is the hero. Nick Castle has his mask that was used, itās not the hero. Thereās a bunch of photos of the mask in the MM.net gallery if you look, and I think thereās a video taken by AJ Good on YouTube as well.
Wow man amazing work on this write up! Very cool stuff indeed!
I think itās funny that Universal has a license agreement with Trick to Treat Studios but opted to use the 2012 Don Post H3 masks in H18. Going for authenticity I suppose, but that 2012 set was not the best for various reasons. Of course they are rare because they were only out for less than a year until DP went under, but quality-wise they were sub par. Still great masks though.
Ohwell, TOTS is still taking credit that itās their masks in the movie, but given that Don Post jr is on their team now, does it really matter? No, it doesnāt.
Great work on this man, I love having this all in one place.
Thank you for the feedback man. I wrote the majority of this all in one night and Iām surprised its been received so well. Itās rewarding to say the least.
I noticed that too. TOTS got the credit for the H3 masks at the end of the movie, but they actually used the 2012 reissues which was super weird. But yeah since they basically own the DP license I guess it doesnāt matter.
Hey all, just added a new photo of the Blood tears stunt to the topic, as well as some new info about it. Thank you Colby and TheGhostlyShape. Happy reading!
Yeah they got the credit for them so not much to say about it beyond that. Just a weird decision to go with the 2012 DPS masks.
But at the end of the day, only folks like us are going to notice that, and anyone else will just see that TOTS sells those masks and be plenty happy to buy their versions. I think they make great versions of the H3 masks.
Maybe they will pop up again in Halloween Kills and it will be the TOTS versions. We shall see!
A quick thought on the H2 listing: Weāre all so fanatic(al?) about these masks that Debra Hill says she had the hero mask under her bed between 1 & 2. But, weāre like, āItās not possible, cigarette smoke cannot penetrate a shoe box like that!! Tons of analysis & digging later)ā¦thereās got to be more to itā. So, come to find out Nick Castle had the hero and DH had the stunt masks? The fact that we, the fans collectively, persisted in knowing the truth behind these masks so much, that we now know more about them than one of the actual creators of the movie. I donāt know how or who dug this information up to begin with, but it says something to the passion for this character.
I dug up the clip of Nick Castle stating he had the hero after H1, from the Monster Mania Q&A, cause I wanted to watch the whole lot of questions, then when he mentioned that, I started sharing it around
Debra never owned the Hero after H1 until Nick gave it back for H2.
She then kept the mask under her bed everyday after shoot to keep it safe.
Nick had the mask over the fireplace in the open all year around until he was asked to give it back. Smoking had nothing to do with it. It just naturally discolored and started to deteriorate as with any store bought mask.
All those other Myers sites and blogs need to change their info on the part about Debra was a smoker who kept it under the bed after H1. That info is like almost a decade outdated.
