Title says it all. I know Nik makes a heck of a mask, but looking at my copy it just seems like the features are too prominent, and the eye holes are off. Even displayed and worn I cant pin-point the look its going for. I dont know. Yall check it out and tell me what you think. Honesty appreciated. Im considering selling it at this point because I just dont “feel” it. In the photo with all the masks its the one on the far left
Honestly, the hobby (to me) is about finding that mask that DOES do it for you. Any pic, any angle, etc. if you’re not feeling it then I would find what does and go for it. If you aren’t getting the feeling from this piece, then I say sell and put that towards your TRUE grail. Me personally, while it is great, don’t care for Nik’s finishing. There are other people who can put a better more accurate finish on it. Beautiful sculpt nonetheless. Maybe take a look at rehauled editions of this mask and see if that does it for ya!
Loper can make it look like a completely different mask, look up freddy loper 75k’s and you’ll see what a difference it is compared to how you get it from nik
I’ve been through a similar “mask crisis” myself. I left the hobby for a while & basically locked my masks away in a secured cabinet. There was a certain line of masks that I used to consider to be the end-all-be-all of Myers masks, but after a few years I started noticing that it just didn’t scream “hero” to me the way another line does. I now say that if a mask can’t pull off a killer Kirk mask, then it won’t be what I’m after in an H1 or H2 mask. It’s all about what does it for YOU.
These masks are tricky. The same mask can look 20 different ways just depending on how it’s stuffed, worn, and how the light is hitting it.
I see what you’re saying about the eyecuts not being “perfect”, but I still think it’s a nice looking mask. (and I feel like I can count on one hand the masks I’ve seen that I actually thought had “perfect” eyecuts. It’s a very rare thing,…imo. )
The mask being worn looks a lot like the closet bashing scene, to me.
And you know, Ive considered that. Every mask is sculpted and finished probably based on looking at a certain stillshot in whatever movie the mask is being based. Im also a firm believer that looking at a Myers mask in a well lit area, and up close is also a bad idea because no matter what that will make it funky looking. With this one though, I ALMOST get the Halloween 4 cover vibe because of the shape and prominent cheeks.
it’s indeed tricky to make a judgment here, I honestly don’t like the way it looks in the photo behind the tree, in spite of being a Castle Edition I see no Castle stretch and it actually has more of the Warlock stretch on the 2 sides, but I think it looks pretty good on the other photo with your baby, it definitely has some closet vibe on it, do you have other worn pictures in a darker lightning to show us? could you also tell me the size of your head and the mask please?
Its a 24” mask and my head is about 23.5” heres a close up of unworn and stuffed with bags, and worn with lighting directly overhead. With the overhead lighting, it looks much much better to me. I dont have any darker ones because Ive never taken one in a darker environment
ok the general shape looks way better here IMO, more H1 and I still see the Tommy Lee Wallace closet scene here , but I also think eyes could’ve been cut better so I agree with you, just my 2 cents. Does the 24" feel snug on you?
Id say snug. I think theres JUST enough room in this mask that keeps me from stretching it. My nose and chin seem to fit almost perfectly into the molded spots. Theres no “bobblehead” to it.
I’m rather new to this hobby so there are surely people with a better eye and connections here to give you a better judgement and some good advice, sure it must be annoying to get such an high end mask and not being happy with it considering how expensive they are, I’m also planning on ordering a Castle edition when Niko is back to the shop, and it’s gonna be my first H1 mask, so I hope he’s not gonna screw my copy.
Thank you for your suggestion, I also like the Creep a lot, problem is I’m in europe, so the 65 I’d save it’ll go for shipping along with a possible hundred for duty fees at the delivery, Justin is also nowhere to be found, I wrote him both via mail and FB and still no answer, but I’m indeed undecided between the creep and the castle 75
yes I mailed that address almost one month ago, never got an answer, I also wrote him on FB, same result…if both Niko and Justin keep ignoring me I’m going for a Spectre, FPS have been great at communicating and have been very informative in less than 3 answers.
This is funny because Ive had the opposite problem. Ive messaged FPS three times asking for an invoice so I can ordwr a Spectre and cant get a response. They were very helpful until I asked for an invoice.
