gentlemen, please stop with the profanity on this forum. we have a number of young kids on the forum and i do not want them reading that language or to think that it is ok to use the forum in this way. it has bothered me and a lot of other members on here for a long while, i think it is high time we stopped it. we are all able to express our emotions without using that kind of language. from here on out, it will not be tolerated and warnings, suspensions and even ban’s will be handed out if this rule is not followed. thanks for your cooperation. i think this will make for a more enjoyable forum experience for everyone. if you see it happening, please inform a MOD and we will handle it, do not try to MOD the person yourself or it will just turn into a back and forth that goes no where.
Alright that’s enough!
I’ve just cleaned this thread up.
One guy has already been banned due to the 3 strike rule.
Just keep it cool with the language guys.
i agree to an extent, the f this and f that is isnt needed. But how far does this go? Ive always felt that George Carlins list of 7 words you cant say on TV is a pretty good list .
Ok i apologise for anything untoward before this is a fantastic community im very happy to be part of and i do agree that excessive use of profane language is very much uncalled for and a bad example to set for younger members who may happen to be on here at any given time as there is no age restriction set for anyone to join or lurk here but i just meant in the Odd occasion one word kind of expression thats all,and anyone here who knows me knows fine well i try to be as adult about things as i can and behave in a very appropriate manner
Is it really that hard to not use profanity on here? There are hundreds of thousands of words in the English language, so it is not necessary to use profanity. This should not be that difficult. You can tell somebody they have a nice mask without dropping F bombs.
Did you read my post before the thread was cleaned up, Donnie? haha. I swear those were nearly my exact words. There are plenty of synonyms you can use that will get the point across just as appropriately. Using alternative words may even broaden your vocabulary! I know when I first started writing papers for college, the “find synonym” function in Microsoft Word was my best friend.
Thanks Scott, I read your posts
Thanks to those who are cooperating.
And yeah Anthony, we all tend to slip when we see someones awesome score and we just can’t resist.
Let’s just try to keep it clean.
Thanks man
i was thinking of it like this, if you are typing something and you have to pause to wonder if it is ok to use that certain word, then just pick another one.
IMO not true. i have been watching these movies since i was 4 years old and guess what, i am fine. i am a firefighter/paramedic i have two sweet daughters and live a normal life. i turned out just fine and so did most of us. so to me, that is off the topic. kids like horror, so they are going to come here. lets try to set a good example that you can love horror and not talk like a child who just learned a new naughty word.
this is just the way things are, i put this thread up as a warning to watch yourselves, it is not really up for discussion. if you choose not to follow the rules then you will have to face the consequences. period. not really that difficult.
Like said before, there are plenty of other words to use in place of some of the major ones. You could even use abbreviated ones if people are that bad …At least pg to pg-13 at the most…lol…i dont have a problem with it, i dont swear on here at all anyways…i guess it just depends who you are…
Quoted for truth. I cuss like a sailor in person, but as far as on forums, I have never seen the need!
Hey Mike, is it possible to set a filter for this forum like what Nightowl has? It seems to work well over there. That way people who just can’t seem to help themselves will be edited.
Great idea! Mike and I both moderate over at Nightowl and that filter sure makes things easier.
Maybe Derek can implement something like that here. I will ask the D-man about it.
Not that I don’t agree with the point, but this is very true. If these kids watch horror movies (namely the RZ movies), what, really, are they going to be subjected to here that is any worse.
But again, if you’re swearing like a script written by Rob Zombie, that’s one thing. But a few profane words here and there ain’t nothin’.
I think that’s just the point. Everything that is too much or too far starts off minimal. If it’s allowed to an extent, barriers will be pushed until it’s not allowed any longer.
There are many mature members here who could use and tolerate profanity here and there, but there are also immature members that see the profanity and assume it’s okay to continue it. However, the profanity will just get worse and more common. It’s an endless cycle. Putting a stop to it now will be MUCH easier than explaining when it’s appropriate and when it’s not.
Like Veach said, I cuss like a sailor every day but I know when it’s appropriate and when it isn’t. On a public forum is when it isn’t. Regardless the nature of the forum.
