Things you hated about the new movie?

The lack of stalking definitely bothered me, and I thought there was a bit too much comedy. But my biggest annoyance was the lack of cops/full blown manhunt, and the one car looking for him just magically sees him on the side of the road and hits him. Was just ridiculous IMHO. (Even though it borrows from H2/H20, I felt it was lazy, not a fun easter egg).

Yeah, Michael doesn’t just walk down the middle of the street. I thought for sure it was a copycat Michael like Ben Tramer. It was ridiculous.

I echo your sentiments. Thank you.

I don’t understand the ‘lack of stalking’ thing people are saying. He stalked the podcasters, you see him in the background numerous times. He stalked the woman on the phone, he stalked the woman with the hammer, he snuck into the closet of the babysitters house.

I feel like I saw a different movie than a lot of other people complaining it wasn’t scary and there was no stalking.

Yes he didn’t spend an hour stalking 3 people, but there was most definitely stalking going on.

He got loose and went on a quiet rampage, which I thought was exactly what everyone wanted to see.

The mask looks great, Michael looks and moves great, Jamie Lee was in good form and wasn’t phoning in her performance.

Honestly I really do not think we could have gotten a better movie.

Was it a great movie? Was it high art and quality theater? No,…it’s a Slasher movie. But for being a Slasher movie it was a really good one, and a great follow up to the original.

I hate sounding defensive of the movie because I don’t think it was the greatest thing ever or anything like that. But some of the nit picking I’m seeing online (I DO NOT mean just here at MM.net),…is really pretty ridiculous.

People complain there wasn’t enough killing when he kills like 12 people.
No stalking, when he very clearly stalked multiple people.
Not scary. Since when is an escaped homicidal lunatic running around killing people not scary?
Too funny. All Slasher/Horror movies have some humor, all of them. Yes sometimes it’s annoying but it’s part of the genre.

We should all be complaining over the important thing…

…the scene with Dana in the shower being cut out!

hahahahaha

He didn’t stalk the woman with the hammer, he walks down the side of the house, picks the hammer up and kills her. Same with the woman on the phone… that’s not stalking lol.

we’re going to have to agree to disagree.

If I see you, watch you, creep up on you and kill you. I stalked you. Just because I didn’t take all day to do it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

I’ve seen my Cat stalk and kill something in 10 seconds. It still got stalked.

I personally didn’t hate anything about this movie. Besides from the obvious, I felt this film never created any build up, or payoff in the grand finale. I never felt a sense of anxiety. But other than that, it was a fun movie and I will see it for a 3rd time.

We are talking bout the “famous” Myers stalking. Looking at someone for 5-10 seconds and then killing them is NOT the Myers Stalk Halloween fans are talking about.

As for the “Elrod” woman, he didn’t even look at her for 2 seconds. She caught his eye, he turns, walks down the side of the house, picks up the hammer and kills her… NO stalking whatsoever. If she hadn’t of been outside, Michael would’t have even seen her, so he was NOT stalking her.

The same with the “woman” on the phone, he only looks at her for less than 10 seconds in the window, and then kills her… NO stalking involved. Again, we’re talking about Myers, watching / lurking / waiting / hiding, following and then finally killing his victims… that’s stalking.

we’ll have to agree to disagree

and sadly in 2018 if he did that people would say the movie is boring and nothing happens.

People are already crying about the movie. Some people would never be happy with it no matter how the movie was.

Personally I’m glad I liked it. It’s about as good as I could realistically expect it to be. Do some elements fall short or could’ve been better? Sure, but I can say that about every movie I’ve ever seen (for the most part.)

Its impossible to please everyone, every movie is going to have its haters. I’m just grateful to have another halloween movie. A couple of years ago who would have ever imagined we would get a new movie set in the h78 timeline. And its a solid entry in the franchise

Yep. I’ve alrady had people say it’s horrible or Robs is way better because more gore and action which is really non existent in the 1978 version

The only thing that I really didn’t like was the way it ended. Everything about the movie was great up until ti just ended like that. It felt very anticlimactic. That was the only thing about the movies that really bothered me a lot.

But some other nitpicks

The doctor subplot was a very wtf moment. Didn’t bother me too much, but it was weird and kind of unnecessary.

I don’t like how the entire boyfriend subplot was just there so that they can have a reason for why Allyson doesn’t have her phone. Lazy writing.

I wish we could have seen more of Michael stalking.

I appreciate offscreen deaths, but I do wish we had a couple more onscreen ones. It was like a 50/50 split between on and offscreen deaths.

Besides the doctor subplot, I loved the movie. I did feel like they left a lot on the chopping block but am hoping we get to see those scenes on the Blu-ray release.

It just wasn’t scary at all. And it has nothing to do with being a kid versus an adult etc. There were severe issues with the pacing and tension. It wasn’t really a horror movie to me. The people I went with were disturbed after the IT remake or crying and shrieking at parts and yet they were laughing during this movie, weren’t even thinking of the Shape. For a horror movie sequel going back to its roots, it had little of what made H1 great. For all of David Gordon Green and Jamie Lee Curtis and Blumhouse interviews on the movie, they just didn’t make a scary movie. There wasn’t enough Michael. There were too many throwaway characters, and a lot of it just felt out of place. Have watched it twice now. They got the box office, the pop culture talking about the series and I am happy for them, and happy that JLC can move on again even though this is her fifth time playing Laurie Strode in the series. But I hope they give the sequel, if there is one, to a director who understands horror and what made the original great. They axed H2 saying they wanted to remove the family connection and to have people be scared it could happen to them again but I literally walked out feeling less scared than even Resurrection. For as bad as H5 and H6 were, there were genuine moments of scary sequences in them. Don’t get me wrong. The score is great. The casting was great. The cinematography was great. It is the writing, scene direction and honestly plot where it falls flat.

Not everyone’s going to agree with you, it’s better to just let your opinions be your own and let them have theirs.

yeah that’s pretty much what I’ve been doing. I just answered the question so…let me have that opinion? Lol

Everything after the opening credits. But, JLC’'s performance great…up until Myers was dumped off at her house.

Like others have said, the subplot with the doctor, that went absolutely nowhere, was ridiculous. That was the only thing that I can say I hated. Other than that, I was a bit disappointed with the ending. I thought the final showdown with all three generations was good, but then they got in the truck, Halloween flashed on the screen, and that was it. I feel like there should have been another scene with the three of them together; it just seemed too abrupt of an ending to me. All in all, I enjoyed it. I didn’t love it, but it was nice to be in a theater actually watching a Halloween movie in October again.

I could go on and on about things I didn’t like but I’m trying to focus on the things I did like.

Except Judy Fuggin’ Greer.

Maybe I’m late to the party but do they give more on blu Ray compared to normal dvd?
