Thoughts on these combat boots for my 78 Myers costume?

I do not have the money and time to sadly track down some original 78 combat Vietnam boots

I found these on Amazon, the green and black is very movie accurate and not bad for the money,

But growing up I never imagined Myers having green and black boots, I always thought they were just black so unsure on what colour?

They’re fine. I too would love a screen accurate/vibram sole and all that, but I can’t swing that atm. I personally use Rothco, but I didn’t see them on the UK site.

Like 9 to 10

I’m not sure if these will work, but these are the REAL boots for around the same price as the ones you were looking at getting. They are sold through Army Surplus. These are the same age as the ones worn in the movie.

It looks like they have 9 EXTRA NARROW REGULAR TREAD in stock. You want to make sure they have the regular tread. If you have narrow feet they might work.

Just thought I would throw it out there.

Thank you SO much for posting this! I just ordered these jungle boots from them in a 13 narrow regular tread and hope they will fit me fine as I usually wear a 12-12.5 range size and have pretty narrow feet. These boots will complete my screen accurate costume!

Oh, that’s great, man! Congrats on the boots! These are the real deal so they’re old, they smell funny, and they’re uncomfortable. Lol. But, they’re the real McCoy.

So glad you saw the post.

HEDGE

Thank you for this! Sadly i live in the Uk, So i can not order them or they not get here before Halloween ends airs, Though the amazons look close enough and they are easy to return if they do not fit, Plus the overhauls will cover them up

Actually is this the same boots found a Uk Supplier

Both those boots are completely wrong with the sole pattern, here’s my pair, also look at how the shape of the boot changes overall

The soles are identical, Mage.

These are the boots I purchased from Army Surplus. Regular tread.

Original military stamp. Made in June 1967.

It doesn’t get any more accurate than ACTUAL military-issued Vietnam-era Jungle Boots. This is what our soldiers were given to wear. This is what Nick Castle wore on set.

how does sizing work on these? do you go true to size or one up or one down?

Does any one have a uk link for these combat boots?

@ uncle: in most cases you want to go one size down. True military boots (even fake ones in most cases) have excess space for soldiers to double or triple up on heavy socks. I wear a 12 in every boot, sneaker, dress shoe, whatever, but I wear an 11 jungle boot.

And totally agreed with HEDGE. you’re not getting more accurate than those. I would have ordered those myself, but I’m not taking a chance on the narrow. I have to wear mine for 6 hours at a time. They gotta be comfortable.

I’m going to link a comment I made last year that helps answer your question. The short answer is: I find they run pretty much true to size.

Guess it depends on the boots. I’ve worn two different brands and my feet were floating in my true size of 12. Took them back and the 11R were perfect.

thank you both of you. im going to order my size in boots(11) and see what happens! im pretty stoked!

Make sure its REGULAR TREAD, not Panama.
