Here you go. These are just quick thrown together worn shots with movie camera angles in mind.
Now for the reviews:
H4:
Very nice looking mask, and the hair isn’t bad at all, very manageable. Size is on the smaller side. I have a 24" skull, and it is about as tight as I can tolerate. It is about the same as an Elrod or an H18. It’s actually tighter than my H18, but I have one of the larger pulls of the H18, so that’s not the best thing to go by. Definitely on par with the Elrod in size. All in all, a cool mask for sure. Of course missing the neck extension, but that’s just this batch from Party City apparently. We shall see when pre-orders come in.
H5:
Great looking mask. My favorite of the two. Size is comparable to the hospital mask. Hair is nice, but is that same type that you find on the Leatherface part 3 mask, just not curly. Since it’s very free flowing, you definitely have to douse it down in gel and hairspray if you want it to stay put. Nothing that can’t be managed though, and you can definitely get the H5 styling out of it.
Overall, damn fine efforts for mass produced masks, and definitely blows the Rubies attempts out of the water.
I changed a portion of this review to reflect the sizes better, as they are more in line with the Elrod and Hospital masks, respectively. Elrod for H4, Hospital for H5. That’s about the most accurate description of size for these two masks. The H5 is closer in size to an H6, but still smaller, and that’s the same way I felt about the Hospital mask when I first got that mask 3 years ago.
Thanks. They are just shots I grabbed quickly. Given more time I can do more artistic shots. I have some things to do tonight but I promised worn shots today so I had to get a few posted and write up my reviews. The H5 is my favorite of the two, but both are very nice masks for the price.
Very nice shots! One thing that’s bugging on the H4 is which film mask it’s based on…the hero, or the mask they used for ads and magazines like Fangoria? I ask because before these were released, I had heard that it was based on the Fangoria mask, not the hero, for whatever reason. The eye cuts SHOULD be the give away, but I just can’t say for sure.
Man, it’s CRAZY how good these mass produced masks are these days.
That last pic of ur H5 is nuts! It has that shanks look that imo no other H5 has pulled off. I can’t wait to see some of these H4 & H5’s rehauled.
Two of my most hated masks… however the comparison to the movie versions are pretty darn close, I won’t be purchasing then as I avoid anything from H4 5 and 6 but am impressed.

I’m really impressed with the TOTS H4. Just like right out of the movie. I love it. Btw what size is the TOTS H6? Since it is a little bigger than the TOTS H5, really curious.

Thanks everyone. As for the size on the H6, it’s around 24" to 24.5" at most. My head is 24", and it fits with a slight bit of wiggle room. So it’s in that ballpark. At least mine is. The H5 is similar in size to the H6. Like I said maybe just a slight bit smaller though.
Yeah that was the exact angle and look I was hoping to achieve with that shot. I think it worked well. This H5 is one of the best out there as far as screen accurate, and it’s crazy that it’s a mass produced mask.
I am almost positive I read that it was based on the Fangoria mask. But, looking at it, it can double as both the hero and the Fangoria mask. It really nails the look.
These masks are amazing! Glad to see some worn shots of the H5. A little gel/hairspray on it and the hair will get the grungy feel it had in the movie. The H4 is fine as is.
Darn, you could pull off some awesome shots. How much hair gel and spray did you use btw? Cause the hair on mine needs it very badly, lol. Your H5 pics are badass!
Thanks! Honestly it’s going to take a bit of tinkering to keep this hair at bay. It’s really not bad hair, just really free flowing and soft.
I just had a light amount to keep it still long enough for some quick photos. I am going to really work on it later today and see how it goes. To which I can give you a better idea later here as to the best approach.
Damn man, if people looking for H4 and H5 masks, i can now definitely say to them to go for TOTS. That H4 in my opinion is one of the closest sculpt to the screen used H4 mask without it being a recast, that is a damn fantastic sculpt. It’s very close to screen accurate. H4 is not my favorite mask, but seeing this…i might actually get it! Btw, i didn’t know that the missing neck extension is just from party city batch. If that’s the case, i hope the actual release will have the neck extension

Sounds good! I got worried it was gonna be one those big masks that make me look like a bobble head. (wipes sweat off head)

Same, but we’ll still need to think about the 78, as we haven’t been able to own one of those yet, so only rumored sizes can be used.

Hopefully it’ll be a bit big, they have a good castle stretch incorporated into it, and if they want the stretch to not get distorted when someone wears it, it’ll have to be big.
I’m guessing one will fit like the Hospital and the other like the Elrod. I’ve heard others say the 4 is snug like the latter. Hope it fits my head because I’d love to dress up as H4 Michael this Halloween. (Then I’ll take a dip in the river and come out as H5. Lol.)
That size comparison is just about right man. Only difference is I would say the H5 is slightly larger than the hospital mask. It’s closer to an H6, so somewhere in between those two. The H4 is definitely Elrod size.
And yeah just be sure to get a hold of something before you sail down river to God knows where lol.
I will have an update on hair management for the H5 later today. It not only took some serious tooling to get it right, but to keep it from flowing around like a blonde in a convertible going 75mph lol.
Finally got it stable, and I will describe which products I used as well. It was some of this and some of that, then wait, come back, do this and do that again, etc. It’s very soft free flowing hair, so it took a lot of trial and error to get it where it needs to be.
The more hardcore crowd will want to rehair it for sure. It’s not bad hair and I get why they used it for that long hair straighter look it has in the film, but its so free flowing that it’s a challenge to keep it at bay. One could use glues to keep it locked down I guess, but at that point may as well rehair it. BUT, if your like me and just want to work with what you got, I did get the stock hair to come out half decent.
I will post photos and description of how I did it later today.
