Since it doesn’t seem like anyone took the plunge on this one yet, I decided to pick one up for you all to take a look at.
I think it’s a great mask for $60 bucks, the hair is worlds better than the old Hospital mask, and it’s the more coarse stuff they used on their H18 masks. So the hair is pretty good for the price.
The paint job is pretty basic, as to be expected with mass produced masks, but the actual details of the sculpt really pop a lot more here than they did on the old Hospital mask. The Maniac sculpt really comes through on this one. So all in all, I think it’s worth a $60 pick up.
Here’s some photos of the mask itself, as well as some worns.
The size is about the same as their H6 mask. Definitely smaller than the H78, but not as small as the H4. And yes I picked it up from Collector’s Row. I barely ever order directly from TOTS anymore, their shipping is just too expensive, plus you never know how long you might wait.
Thanks Jay, yeah it kind of flew under the radar honestly. It seems like the TOTS masks that go under the radar usually end up being their more decent pieces. I was pretty surprised by it for a $60 dollar mask. If your familiar with the old Night Owl Maniac, that’s what this is, only on a mass produced scale.
It was out before as the “hospital mask”, but they changed the hair and apparently re-did the mold to feature more of the details of the Maniac sculpt in this one. Honestly not bad at all for $60.
And I bet it would really shine with a proper overhaul. I think the hair on it is just fine, but maybe a solid re-haul of the paint would really put it over the edge. As for right out of the box though, it’s pretty cool stuff and very photogenic
Yeah pretty much. Mabry did sculpt it based on the H4 poster back in the day of the original Maniac. But as we all know, that was the original mask on that poster, so yeah, pretty much an H1. It’s an over exaggerated look with the stretch and features. But man it looks great. So easy to light and get great looks out of.
Yeah out of all the TOTS Myers masks, this is most comparable to the H6 in size. Their original Elrod/Tramer is still the smallest they have made, with the first run H4 right up there as well. This mask is bigger than those. It’s no H78 though, it’s significantly smaller than the H78.
