I’m 6’7, Darth Vader actor David Prowse was 6’7 when he played the part. Superman/Christopher Reeve 6’4, Jason/Kane Hodder also 6’4, and Tyler Mane is 6’8… so I thought the O.G. Michael would be taller
That’s fair enough, so I can see what you mean. But one of the things that made The Shape scarier was that he had the height and build of an “average” man, so Nick was perfect as he was, as is previously stated, the same height as me and around 170lbs (DEFINITELY not like me )
Honestly I don’t see any relation between Myers and all those super heroes or fantasy characters you just mentioned, ok Jason, but Superman and Darth Vader? and Tyler Mane wasn’t the original Myers, a 5,11 Michael Myers is not short, it’s the right height if you aim for the original one, and you can be already intimidating enough at that height.
Nick was 31 at that time, he was surely very skinny but had a manly build, well shaped shoulders etc, most underweight people tend to have narrow shoulders and a kiddy frame, but Nick didn’t so he was fine as a killer, possibly the coverall made him appear slightly larger than he was.
Thanks to stereotypes (and thanks to Jason Voorhees, in particular) !
The fact is tall people seem usually scarier than short ones. No one can deny it. But I’m a small guy and even if sometimes I heard my share of stupid comments (somebody asked me once if I was Myers’ son… Ha ha ha… so funny), I can testimony that when I’m wearing the mask, even in front of people who know it’s me underneath, their reactions can be quite surprising… Some can’t stand being too close and run away if I walk towards them. Strolling at a slow but determined pace, arms barely moving, not like a robot but quite stiff, all of this is the essence of the Shape. A 5 feet tall Myers can be absolutely frightening (Daeg Faerch definitely was scary when he killed Judith), and you just have to check true crime stories to learn that terrifying murderers are rarely giants…
I work a lot around construction workers, many of whom are typically 6ft or more, some flat our towering over my 5’8" frame. I won’t deny that I’ll find myself occasionally intimidated by another man who’s much taller than me, though more often than not I’m just cursing how construction equipment is simply made for taller people as I’m trying to climb up and down.
