Where did this mask come from? 75 or 98?

Hello everybody!

I was reading some old posts here on the forum and came across this beautiful foam field mask.

From what I can understand, it’s a mask derived from an original DPS mold.

The conclusion I haven’t been able to reach is, is it a Kirk '75?? '98 Prototype?

I started investigating after Chris Stanley posted this video: https://youtu.be/3x6ldKs6GEc?si=2mC30VqY6ftS5Dx0

Screenshot from Chris’s video.

Does anyone have more information to share?

Thank you all.

That would also be what Sean Clarks Kirk comes from too, his mask came from the same mold since there is also marks on the neck in the same spot as the hero

Are you referring to those spots?

No, these

Thank you for sharing the images.

I’d love to read the old threads. Can you link what you found?

This has been pretty much definitively proven to be a foamed 75 Kirk that would’ve come from an original production mold for the 75 Kirk. It’s also likely the source of the DP 98 proto casts.

I have a question: is the foamed mask from the older posts on this forum the same one from Chris’s video?

Based on the colors, it doesn’t seem so to me. I’d like to know your opinion.

I’m asking because I’m working on a project where I’m 3D modeling a Kirk mask. Do you think using the photos of the foamed 75 Kirk would be a good reference?

Images from an old post:

Chris’s video

Which of the image collections would be the best to use as a reference?

I found these post:

I couldn’t find the other post with all the images.

All the exact same mask yes. That foamed master / cast is the only one that exists that’s known.

Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks for sharing that!

I can’t wait for the day I find a supple, perfect, ‘75 Kirk at a garage sale and then have JC convert it.
