Which is worse- H20 KNB "bulbhead" or H5?

I’m fairly sure it’s generally accepted that these are less popular masks, but which one do you think is worse?

H20 by far.

The H5 may not look like the 75 Kirk mask in the slightest, but it has an enraged, intimidating look to it that manages to convey the spirit of what the film was going for; The Shape’s anger. I also always associate it with Autumn and the farm, which is probably due to H5 in general having that feel.

The H20 mask is fine, but there’s nothing interesting about it. I like it decently since I enjoy all the masks to a degree, but it’s definitely on the lower end of the list as I just don’t find it scary, unique, or remotely close to the original Shatner either.

Agreed, the H20 V2 is definitely the worse of the 2. Personally, I don’t mind the H5 mask. It has a very distinctive look to it that I can appreciate for what it is. The H20 V2 however looks awful in my opinion. It looks like something you would find off the rack every year at Halloween time that is “supposed” to look like Michael Myers, even though in actuality, it looks nothing like him. Why they ever thought that mask was a good option, heck, why they even CONSIDERED it is beyond me. I heard someone once describe it as looking like an angry little boy that got caught and sent to his room grounded…a very accurate depiction I think

H20 is definitely not the best, H5 is the one I would choose over it, for it’s aggressive look, it’s different and holds it’s own value

I honestly think that’s what they were going for with the H20 mask, is a cheap store bought looking mask. Which I can see why, maybe makes it scary to some people since they would think it looks just like something they would see in stores.

However with that said, not my pick of these 2 masks. H5 by far and wide over the H20. It has emotion, that seems to change with different angles and lighting, which I do like a lot. Some people do hate the H5 mask, while in all honesty it’s one of my favorites of the series.

What baffles me though, is both of these masks are KNB masks, so how the hell did they go so far off course in H20??? Hell I would of been happy with an H5 retooled look. Just amazes me that both the H5 and the H20 v2 (technically first version) mask are KNB creations. Just night and day in difference.

Definitely the KNB H20 mask. Honestly if the the hair was shaped better and not receding on the H5 mask, and the neck was trimmed or actually tucked in I think it would look passably good in the film or in person

Someone should do this to an H5 mask, it would be interesting to see what it’d look like

In the scene at the beginning of H5 where Michael is floating down the river the mask is tucked in and it’s hard to notice the hair because of the lighting and I LOVE the way the mask looks in that scene, but only that scene.

They’re are three different masks used in H20. 4 masks if you include the CGI one :stuck_out_tongue:

Your right there are are, lol, …just messing with you man!

Yeah we are fully aware of the plentiful masks in H20, but this was just a question between the original KNB H20 mask (also known as H20 V2 under TOTS) and the H5 mask, also KNB. If we are talking about the whole lot of H20 masks then that is a different ball game.

If we are soley talking H20, then the digital mask is the worst miserable looking shit ever. Wish they would of just either stuck with the KNB or the H6 mask and stopped there, and just cut the damn scene where they put that digital mask in. Wow does that ever kill and stop the mood of the movie dead in its tracks.

I am actually not a fan of the Winston mask, it is way too punk rock for my liking. I do see why people favor it though, as it at least has facial features that resemble a Kirk mask. Not a bad mask at all, just not my favorite of the ones they chose to use. The modified H6 was the one I wish they would of stuck with.

Although the curiosity in me wishes to see the full film shot with the KNB mask as originally intended. It looks chummy and the mouth is odd to say the least, but it did remind me of the Don Post “the mask” masks that were in stores at that time, which also did not look quite right that year. So it would of felt more like a mask that you would literally find in stores.

I know that is not what a lot of fans would of wanted to see, but in hindsight, it made sense in the fact that it was probably intended to look like a cheap store bought mask. It would of been easy for the casual movie goer to associate it with that, than us hardcore fans looking for what we believe to be Myers’ mask.

So I see what Steve Miner was trying to do with his pick for the mask, but what they had were hardcore fans ripping it to shreds, so thus, we end up with a mish mash of several masks that just totally ruins the movie for me. Some don’t notice all the different masks and changes through out, but I do and it just takes me right out of the movie. That and the scream soundtrack being used. Talk about lazy music.

At least H5, as a movie, and the mask in the movie, feels like Halloween and stays consistent through the whole film, which is why yes, I like Halloween 5 better than H20. Oh yes I said it, I like H5 better than H20. At least the damn movie feels like a Halloween movie from beginning to end. H20 feels like a scream movie cash grab with a mish mash mask mess.

And I went to theaters to see H20 with high hopes, only to be disappointed, not because the story was bad, but because Scream music and changing masks scene to scene just took me right out of the movie. The soundtrack and noticing the drastic changes in the mask through out the film, just took me right out of it. Which is a shame because I liked the story they had to tell, but man those issues really sucked the life out of it for me.

H20 knb is far worse imo

The h20 knb is the only mask that I actually hate in the series, I found my way to liking all the masks in the series except for that damn knb mask lol. Knb is worse than h5 no competition imo

God, same. It has the face of a questionably-useful sidekick in a '60s superhero cartoon. Completely bad and glad they dumped it.

I actually love the H5 but never cared about the KNB…
To me the KNB really is the worst mask in the series…

Holy shit that’s amazing, best description of it I’ve ever heard!

The H5 may be bad, but at least it looks a bit scary. The KNB bulbhead looks like one of those Walmart masks that aren’t even scary at one bit and was just a quick attempt at a cash grab.

I never really cared for the H20 KNB mask. But then the more I looked at it I saw it in a new light. It just had a look of no expression. Like a mime. Very eerie in a sense

What!

H5, I just hate everything about that movie.
