Every Halloween fan has a favorite mask. Some love the original, some love one of the sequels. The cool thing is, everyone usually likes a different version of a certain mask. I know there is alot of debate about which H1 mask is actually the most accurate, because in the movie there are a few different looks. Its one of the really cool things about not only the movies, but being a fan and collector.
More importantly, i find myself thinking…i want atleast one mask from each movie. Have a whole wall dedicated to Michael Myers =) i have my entire set up planned…yet there is one mask i dont know if i could bring myself to buy. Hell, i can barely stand it in the actual movie. I know for a lot of people this varies as to which movie/mask that is. For me its Halloween 5. I cannot for the life of me, bring myself to appreciate that mask. Many people dislike the H4 and Remake masks…but for me H5 is by far the worst.

The unique and different takes on how Michael Myers through the years of movies made it new everytime.
The H5 is an ugly mask, but who said Myers was supposed to be the best looking guy?! It gave such an eerie and angered look, obviously lol “Halloween 5: REVENGE of Michael Myers”.
As for the H4, it kind of reminded me of an untraditional H1 myers where the mask was painted white, but the sideburns had stayed along with a colored set of eyebrows.
Each mask had it’s own persona, creating such a love for Myers, IMO. Each movie was different, through the story, mask vision, actor’s take on Myers, etc. I enjoyed the RZ remakes (my username lol), but now I realize it was a completely different take; but I still wouldn’t mind watching it!
Over time, I have come to appreciate all of the Myers masks from the movies for different reasons. However, I do have one that is my least favorite of the bunch, and for me, that is also number 5. There is just something about that mask that doesn’t work for me when compared to the other masks in the series. At one time, I might have said that the H4 was my least favorite – too clean, too round, sideburns, etc., – but the 5 has no character in my eye. Angry yes, but so is 6 and I like 6. 5 was just a sub-par mask IMHO.
While I do like all the masks for what they are, 8 is my least favorite. When I think of Myers, the most simple image to come to mind is a white mask with brown fair and a blank face.
The Resurrection mask, being basically grey and having such dark brown hair (almost black), just doesn’t come to mind. While it still has it’s own character, to me it just seems pushed as a sculpt.
And while we’re on the subject, I personally love the H5 mask. After the original and H6, I’d say it’s pretty close behind on my favorites list.
Although it has grown on me a bit,I am going to have to go with the H5 mask.When I first got into the indie Myers mask hobby,I remembered being confused about how anyone could possibly like that mask.It just looks like something really bad a child drew up and they made a mask from that image.It’s just a bizarre looking mask.Over time I have grown to like it a bit.The Resurrection mask is terrible also,in my opinion.It is just too cartoon-like and exaggerated looking but I still have to go with H5 as my least favorite.
This is true, and i agree with everything you said completely. I just find myself looking at the replicas of H5 and thinking “God these are f**kin ugly” LoL
Another thing that bothered me with the H5 mask, is that it was a continuation of H4…he was supposed to be wearing the same mask…why change it?? I understand when they are a few years down the road H2-H4 H4-H6 etc.
Right, as a Myers fan we appreciate them all. Its like it was stated earlier they all bring/brought something different and unique. I just dont like any of the features, the hair is way to far back for me. Like you said it just doesnt work =p my opinion of the masks have changed since i was younger, till now. Hell my brother for a short period thought this was the best Halloween mask out there (he changed his mind not to long after =p it was just a phase)
Haha, yeah. I can see that. I also always thought the mask looked like a black man. A lot of things didnt work for this mask either. I dont know why they painted around his eyes for one -.- In certain lighting it can be great…but thats like finding a needle in a haystack. Thats why it isnt the lowest in my opinion tho, i cant find a shot of H5 that i like =.=
This is true, but it kept the same mold. To me when i think of Halloween 2 i think of the brown ugly mask. The Revolver. The Dream Sequence (while my favorite of the movie) wasnt in the film for very long. Although i thought this was an EPIC mask. The Half Mask was really only at the Finale…to be honest he didnt wear the damn thing enough in the movie for me anyways -.- Ill add the option to choose the different masks tho bro
Yes, thats a good way to sum it up. I for one liked H20’s final mask. I wish they would have kept that, i know they used it as a template because it resembles it…but they exadurated like every feature -.-
Thats two of the big things thats wrong with it for me. I think H6 did a good job of making H5 look right. H6 resembles H5 to me in some ways…kind of like what it should have been, if that makes sense. H6 and 2007 are my favorites.
Haha!! This is probably why i dont feel i should spend a few hundred bucks on buying the POS! =p Plus, i could never be proud of it ya know?? Its like that one you had to keep =p Ha the child you really didnt want…im kidding children are great LoL
