The 1975 Kirk had so much variation there’s not one true singular accurate copy of these masks. That said, I’ve always felt that Nik Dresios always produced the most accurate Kirk masks, variations and all.
Theres a lot of variables and make or breaks when it comes to the most accurate Kirk/Myers. I’ve been collecting H1 Myers masks on and off now for 15 years and have seen/owned tons. Aside from the paint, eye cuts and hair detail the biggest part of an accurate H1 is the sculpt and the size of the mask (the original is a youth sized mask, around 23") Typically the most accurate sculpts are going to be the ones that are a descendant from the original kirk like the Starkiller or the ToTs Elrod, both Kirk descendants at a smaller size.
The charts posted here last year are a good representation of what masks have direct lineage to the original DP 1975 Kirk as well as those with direct lineage to the DP 98 Shatner.
So the question is, do you want it to look like the 75 Kirk or the 98 Shatner? Though both masks are nearly identical they do hold different lineage. If you want the lineage of the Kirk, get a Starkiller or Creep. If you want the lineage of the Shatner, get the 98 Proto or the 75K.
The main difference is the price difference between those with the Kirk lineage and those with the Shatner lineage…
A star killer really doesn’t look anything like an original Kirk I mean sure yea it has the basic features and what not, but it looks a little warped in the head and the way the face sits it is not the most accurate mask and I don’t think the 98 proto looks like a shatner either it was a recast of a 75 KIRK, so it looks more like a Kirk than any mask out there in my OWN opinion
I’m onto my third Starkiller (Myers) And have four Creeps and have had a 75K and the Starkiller sculpt is accurate when compared, it’s essentially a Kirk. Often times the eye cuts and finishing isn’t the best from what I have seen on here, but the sculpt is bang on. For a mask that “Doesn’t look anything like an original Kirk” it looks pretty dark Kirk-y. NAG masks are just overpriced admission to the cool kids club lol. Take a Starkiller and have a top notch artist rehaul it, voila you have a Hero.
Not a huge fan of the sculpt when compared to the number of direct casts we have now.
I made those charts, keep in mind it’s just showing those with origin, not necessarily accurate ones with origin! Lol.
Cool, didn’t realize the DP 98 descendants had the dent as well. I don’t really follow that side of the spectrum. To me the Creep/Shat tramples all over the 98 Proto or 75K
Regarding the current Starkiller mask… I also own one, but was surprised how miniature all the facial features are… I can’t imagine that the hero was this small at all… It’s pretty much un-wearable… The nose is a tiny nub…
The 1975 Don Post Kirk was a youth mask, no larger than 23". They were also a lot thinner of a pull than todays masks and not pure latex, they were extremely flexible. Nick castle was around 5’11 and 150lbs, a man that small would have a peanut sized head around 22" and he still had to reef it over his head. Remember it’s his chin being stuck in the neck of the mask that gives it the Castle stretch.
I can’t help but think of Castle’s Longer than average face…and that the starkiller is more tiny… even smaller than 75k or the 99 shats… I am amazed that nobody who owned a 75k ever measured and posted detailed measurements… ( not referring to the Medley measurements )
