They rated the Picture quality a 3.5 out of 5, but stated that this is “likely the best Halloween II will ever look”.

So these missing scenes are not in the deleted scene bonus feature??

Alternative close-up of the Shape, right before he dumps nurse Karen’s head into the Hot tub…

The Shape opening the door while stalking Mr. Garret…

Laurie’s flashback when she meets the young Michael. She starts to apologize saying,“Please don’t be mad at me Michael…”. The scene cuts to a close-up of young Laurie’s doll dripping blood from the eyes which explains why she shoots the shape in the eyes in the end…

The scene where the shape hides in a closet as he mistakenly activates a wind up toy, in the baby room. Nurse Karen checks to see what the noise is. The camera is shot as if it were in the eyes of the shape which is why DW doesn’t remember this scene. He isn’t in it…

Nope, these are not on the bluray. Like I said, Universal dropped the ball on the special features and bonus materials. That being said, the picture & audio quality make this a must own.

Ahhh…the best release of this year comes with the crappiest bonuses…
Like you said DD the picture quality will be worth it! I can tell from your avatar

Whoa, whoa, WHOA!!! :open_mouth:
Bleeding doll eyes???
Wind-up toy mis-hap???
OK, I thought I had seen all the deleted scenes before, but these two, I have NEVER seen. Kaizu, do you have these in a bootleg form? I have a TV cut of H2 I recorded on VHS in the 90’s, kept it for those lost scenes, I also have a cut of H2 from Benny, but I don’t EVER remember seeing those!!! I WANT!!!

The Nurse Karen/Wind up toy scene was explained by Rosenthal 25 Years Doc. He DID shoot this.
The bleeding doll scene, I was told from Billy that this scene was shot. There was a reason why Laurie’s a good shooter

Brother K. is correct, both of those scenes were filmed. Carpenter axed the wind up toy scene to make room for more gory scenes, like Alice’s death in the beginning. The bleeding doll eyes scene was foreshadowing what might happen in the end. Rosenthal’s H-II would have been great to see!

Anyone else read this? http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=20993

I agree 100%. There is absolutely no reason why his name should have been removed from the opening credits.
It is completely wrong, and yet another thing that Universal screwed up. They are on a roll… :unamused: :butthead:
By the way, there were only THREE copies in my entire city. I bought two of them. :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree too. Universal really did screw up what this 30th Anniversary Release COULD have been. The deleted scenes are nice to have, but they should have included all of them. Terror In The Aisles is awesome too, but it seems like they just didn’t know what to do with that movie so they threw it on this disc as a bonus feature.

I remember reading somewhere an interview with Rick, and he stated that Universal was finally working on a special edition release and that he had hoped to do a commentary so he could tell his story.

Obviously, this didn’t happen.

It always amazes when studios won’t even opt to include a commentary on a special edition of a movie, considering 99.9% of the time the parties do it for free anyways.

It amazes me how much Universal doesn’t care for their back catalog. There are so many shit movies out there now-a-days, and that’s all they seem to care about. When I was at Best Buy this week, there must have been 300 copies of THOR. Now, I haven’t seen THOR, but I can’t imagine they’re going to sell that many copies. And a whopping 3 copies of Halloween 2. I wish Universal and De Laurentiis would relinquish there right’s to Halloween 2 and 3, and hand them over to Anchor Bay, and let THEM hand out a 30th Anniversary edition.

BTW, would have LOVED to have seen those 2 scenes you guys mentioned. They sound AWESOME!

Has anyone ever noticed how the picture adjusts in this scene?

34:57-35:00 in the film.

It looks like the picture focuses or shrinks in a little. It is very noticeable on the bluray version, but it does it on all versions of the film.

struck out in indianapolis…tried best buy and fry’s…anyone have any luck in indianapolis area?

That’s due to the type of lens used on the camera. A very wide angle lens, no doubt this corridor was a lot shorter than it looks in the movie. In order to get everything in the shot, a wider angle lens was used. When focusing and “zooming” with a wide angle lens, it really distorts the image and throws the image out of focus. Thus, when the operator pulls focus when the characters enter the shot, the room seems to become a tad shorter.

About availability of the title…
Sadly, I saw this problem coming a mile away; buyers for the BIG box stores don’t know what sells and have no clue to what people want. (I betcha this title will be in the “online” top 5 Bluray selling titles next week.) Watch, in a couple of weeks, everyone…EVERYONE will have Halloween II on Bluray but sadly it will be too late, most of the people who wanted the title will have gone to other means to obtain it and this title will just sit around on the shelf’s.

Title card issue…(first off Akkad and Yablans sold off the title to Dino for $800,000 each; their names did not have to go on this Universal owned movie.)
The whole title card issue, I bet you it will come down to what film print was used; if they used an earlier print before changes were made, which happens all the time; I don’t think it was in any way intentional. Besides, MCA Universal has not been around for sometime; since 1995.

Thank you for the info, Darren and Billy.

I’ve seen a bunch of posts about availabilty. Amazing in major cities like Orlando and Indianapolis only a couple copies. No way it will crack the top 5 Blue ray sales this week because there wasn’t enough copies available to buy.

I should have explained myself better, online sales of Blyrays; it will be in the top 5 easily because that’s the only place to get it…really.

I hope you are right. Then maybe they will take the profits and release another edition done right with an awesome transfer like H1 Blue Ray and bonus Doc about The actual H2 movie. But I doubt it.

Billy’s totally right about the Big Box stores and what their ordering techniques are like. I work at Best Buy, and they never seem to order the titles I want to buy. When the Phantasm II DVD finally came out, no Best Buy’s had it at all. Had to hit a specialty retailer to get it. And suddenly, months down the road, there it is! The buying habits of the Merchandise representatives only seem to reflect the big titles that are recent ones, whether they are flops or not doesn’t matter. Back catalog titles, even CD’s, don’t seem to matter that much. You think they would figure it out by now that us “older” guys who love these movies are the ones with a bit more disposable income to spend on the catalog titles…
