I got an email telling me that it’s illegal to allow bootleg sales of masks in the classifieds. Simple as that.

Not directly, but they could shut us down in a heartbeat. They are correct in that it is illegal to allow those sales. I have received official complaints in the past, and I am not going to fight with them, I tried that before and it only hurt the cause. This is not something to be taken lightly or ignore.

and with no permission of the halloween franchise selling these unlicensed masks Derek can get sued since its his sight and get shut down

Bootleg to me is the recasts of the mask, am i right at that point derek? So are the people who sculpt masks not free to sell them?

A bootleg (or in other words illegal) is anything that is not official or licensed.

actually you can use the star wars sample, and play the song to whom ever you want to, you just cant make any money off of the song. Thats why artists nowadays release mixtapes, they get away with using samples by giving the songs away and not selling them. Same here, i can sculpt myers all day long and make masks, i just cant legally profit from it

Guys, as much as it sucks, stings, hurts, etc., etc. there is nothing wrong with what Trancas is doing. That’s fact. No matter what your opinion is of this, it’s fact. Already owning a “used” Myers does not make it a non-bootleg product so, just like a new mask, it is still an illegal item.
Before you read on, let that sink in: The license holders are doing nothing wrong with removing UNlicensed, bootleg versions of their character. Period. No matter you’re feelings, they are legit.
Now, let’s say your an artist or mask studio and you want to purchase a license through Trancas to sell a Myers mask. What exactly are you paying for if there are dozens of artists selling the character with out paying licensing fees? Nothing. How can a company expect people to pay if there are dozens of others who aren’t paying and making money off of the character? They can’t! UNLESS, they put a stop to it. Just like Lucas and Star Wars, Universal Studios and their classic monsters, etc., etc.
Like I started this thread with, Trancas does not own licenses for Star Trek or William Shatner. Those masks can, and will, still be sold here. So expect artists to sell these masks and then you could hire an artist, or that same artist to paint and hair that Kirk or Shatner mask any way you wish. However, STOP trying to come up with ways to sell Myers masks under the radar or it will bring Derek and the site more trouble.

so let me get this straight, unofficial myers masks can be listed in the classifieds for trade right, just not for sale? Can they be listed as a free bonus with purchase of a mask stand or dvd? Or no?
